it be restored great by worker but you still get a good view of it ,but need to be fit as you need to walk to see it
I don't think I can add too much to the other reviews on here apart from it really is a place you have to visit if in Rome. There is so much more to see than we thought. I was thinking we would be done in a hour but we after 3.5 hours barely does it justice! The only thing is plan around decent weather
Always fascinating and atmospheric (if you can ignore the world wide phenomenon of amplified music from South American mime-flautists on the road nearby). I suggest trying the entrance to the Palatine Hill on via di Sam Gregorio if the main entrance at the Colosseum is busy. Make sure that you are in the right queue - there were separate queues for tickets and for security checks. We looked round ourselves rather than be in a tour group - you don't need a tour guide to free your imagination.
A fascinating place with lots of interesting ruins remaining. Great photo opportunities at every turn. Part of the 3 for the price of one ticket 12€ for forum, colosseum & palatine hill - good value. The only problem we had was finding the exit as you can't go down the hill the way you came. Don't follow sign up the hill as you'll be wandering around for hours! The turnstile exit is behind the large building (white I think) in which there are toilets. It's near where you go in. Only problem we found all over Rome was sparse signposting.
Lots of brick and stone remains but hard to imagine what it looked like in Roman times. Despite an audio guide and lots of guidebooks it could have been so much more enjoyable if the signs were better and you could have seen how it looked in its day. Museum was great though.
This place never ceases to amaze me with the amount of history available to see. You can spend the whole day wandering around it and up on Palatine Hill, all for 12 Euros which also includes Colleseum entrance. Take water and a snack in, there is nothing inside to buy. It is very hot in the forum in summer too.
we bought a ticket, queued for over an hour, then when we reached the front they slammed the gates in our faces and told us to go as they were not letting anyone else in that day. I showed them my tickets but were told to come back tomorrow. I told them I was flying home tomorrow so could I have a refund? They said No, Go Away. They then let in a small group of Italians.
This was fab. 3 attractions for 1 ticket of 12euro, here, the hill and coliseum, didn't like all the selfie stick seller's, very full on so have to be firm but what a fantastic city, worth exploring some of the back streets for a cheaper meal and drinks but still great quality
Loved our visit to the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Fabulous views from the top of the Palatine, where the imperial family lived and look out for ring necked parakeets. Then back down the hill and stroll through the streets of the forum itself. Fabulous - so photogenic.
