We love hiring the aquarium right when it opens and leave after lunch! It's less busy ( which is nice when you have toddlers)! Rain or shine there is tons to see! They have recently done some renovations and there are lots of new tanks and the Amazon area now has birds! My boys (3.5 and 18mo) love it! We usually spend about 2 hours and roam at our own pace! Longer if we stop and watch the shows! Parking is busy!

We go to the Vancouver Aquarium almost every time we go to Vancouver. There have been significant changes over the years due to public disdain for keeping marine mammals in captivity for entertainment purposes, but we still like to go for the sense of peace and happiness we get just from being in the presence of the Belugas, dolphins, and other aquatic animals. I was, however, disappointed that the focus of the "shows" has become a lengthy lecture about environmental protection and pollution.

This is a wonderful display of sea creatures dissected & preserved with plastination, which preserves them by removing water & fat & refilling with plastic. This process was originally developed by Gunther von Hagens for his Body World's Exhibit of human cadavers which visited Vancouver several years ago.A Thresher Shark still has its last undigested squid dinner in its stomach.Ocean Sunfish are the heaviest bone fish in the world & can weigh up to 2,300 kgs. Three unborn pups were plasticized within the Silky Shark.Humboldt squid, amongst the largest squid, reaching a mantle length of 1.9m (6.2ft) & weighing up to 50 kg (100lbs) have migrated from the Humboldt Current off the coast of South America up to British Columbia. During feeding time they have attacked humans & can change colour rapidly from red to white. A huge pink Humboldt Squid is displayed as well as a rare 2 tusk Narwhal. Most only have one prominent tusk and a very small one.Don't miss the new Sea Monsters 4 D film reinventing prehistoric beings of the sea.

We've been to the aquarium a dozen times in 5 years. With 2 teens and a toddler, we find great value in places that have something for all ages, and the aquarium with its environmentally sound displays and knowledgeable friendly staff never disappoints.

After the new recent renovations to the Aquarium the layout and presentation of exhibits seem much more modern and attractive. When you arrive it is a good idea to check the daily schedule and plan your visit around some of the shows and events that they have here such as the Dolphin show, Sea Lion and Seal show, and Sea Otter feedings. They also have a 4-D theatre here and change the shows a couple times a year.Popular animals here are the sea otters and the African penguins. I always enjoy looking at the Dwarf Cuttlefish in the Tropical Zone, they are masters of camouflage and it is a neat challenge to try and find them in tank. One of my favorite animals recently added here is the quirky Pig-nosed turtle that swims among a giant school of Rainbowfish. When I came in March 2015 they had just opened the temporary Sea Monsters exhibit which showed different preserved bodies of sharks, rays and such. I REALLY loved it for being so educational and full of interesting facts about these animals' bodies and lifestyle. I hope after this exhibit closes that they will continue to have such engaging and educational exhibits to teach the public more about marine life.I always have had a yearly membership to this place. If you live in Vancouver I highly recommend buying a membership here. It is always a treat to come in a take a look at these sea creatures.

When I went to the aquarium it was raining so I thought it wouldn't have the outside shows, but I was surprised that they were happening anyway! I love animals, so I really enjoyed it, mainly that they have plenty os rescued animals, as the dolphins!! I fell in love with the one with de injured fin! It's a program to the whole family!!

A bit pricey but when you visit, you understand why. Amazing. The staff is just great. Pleasant and professional. I would recommend it to all
