Nice little beach front bar with pub type food, live music and dancing. Prices are good here as well.
Like everything in Placencia, you might as well do it on the beach. This bar/restaurant has lots of different tables around the beach and a good menu. Lots of variety in drinks, too! I got the sense this was a hoppin' spot for ex-pats, especially when the sun goes down. Good value for your money, and service was good considering how busy they were in low season.
This place is in a prime location. Comfort food and huge menu of drinks. We made plenty of friends too. If you are looking for a laid back place with good food this is your place. Spent more time here than anywhere else.
More for the younger person - food was okay - told a dirty joke to get a free shot of the day! Close to beach.
This is a great place for single, married coupe and family. The reggae music was awesome and not too loud that we didn't have to yell to converse with one another. Even the kids got up and danced a little. They moved from their other location off the street to the beach making it a bit more rustic but we loved it.
We remember your stay. Front cabana on the beach, the public beach, where anyone can walk, sit or yes in fact puke as you stated. We have no control over who walks on the beach. Since we are situated right next to another open air bar, that also plays live music several nights a week and serves liquor it could just have easily been patrons from there. Or from anywhere with in this community. As stated the beach is public. We do have someone that plays reggae (Bob Marley) once a week on a Casio Keyboard. From 5 - 9 pm. You'll note on that evening there were several people who were actually enjoying the novelty of being on a beach in the Caribbean listening to reggae in an open air location. We also have a jam session once a week from 5 - 9 pm, and one night of rock n roll until 9:30 pm on a Saturday. Other than that we have one night a month that there is entertainment later, our full moon party. Placencia is a village in the Caribbean, not a secluded beach resort. There are people here that come here to enjoy the interaction with others. They come to enjoy the local atmosphere. While we have been in this location for a short while, there have been other businesses run here that have had live music, and our neighbor has been running their bar for years with live music as a part of their lineup. Often the attitude in which you approach a situation results in the way people respond to you. When you came into our open air establishment on the night in question instead of asking to speak with the owner or manager privately you immediately began to berate her when she was identified to you. After stating that we ruined your vacation we found it odd that you spent so much of your remaining evenings with us enjoying food and drink. We've been to Cancun - a very different place than Placencia. We are sorry you did not fully enjoy your stay in Placencia. Your hotelier should have informed you of the change in the neighborhood. Many of their guests have extended their stay so that they could continue to enjoy the area. There are many other guesthouses in the village that are in a quieter part of town. The local tourism board could assist you in finding those. We also know that there are people, that have been to Placencia before, that have booked out the same cabana you stayed in for seven weeks because of its proximity to the Barefoot Bar. We strongly feel that at the end of the day that a small tourism destination like Placencia needs entertainment in order to thrive. Many, many people come to Placencia to enjoy places like Barefoot Bar and there are many that love to be right in the heart of the action. We are sorry that you were not one of them.
Back to Placencia for the 3rd year and hit Barefoot for happy hour for all the 16 days we were there. They moved from main street back to the beach, making it even more awesome. The staff are always friendly and even made our drinks for us when they seen us walk in the bar. There is an incredible menu of drinks, with specials and discounted drinks during happy hour making the cheap drinks even cheaper, but don't get me wrong, only the price is cheap the drinks are very good, they don't skimp on the liquor. We have had the same waiters for the past couple years we have gone there, getting welcome back hugs when we walked in. We ate dinner there a number of times and the food is also very good, the Pizza, hawaiian chicken burger, and black and blue burgers were a few of our favorites. They also have a huge food menu and I would not consider it bar food but more like restaurant food. I would highly recommend this place for a drink or 2 or more, or for dinner.
So......We spent the better part of the day with Mel and Cassie at the Barefoot in Placencia, BZ...what can I say.... Fun was had by all!!! These ladies and their establishment are the best of the best!!! Great food, stiff drinks and what a view!!...come join the fun .Dwayne
This place is lots of fun! They learn your name super fast and provide great service and food at really good prices.
This place has amazing drinks, and the prices are great. Its a change from the other local bars in the area, always fun to hang out here.
Awesome laid back bar but with really good fresh food!!!! We ate there on our 2nd to the last day there and then went back the next day! Our goal is to be regulars there !
Barefoot Bar provides a chilled out relaxed environment by day people drinking and socialising enjoying a refreshing lime juice or a cocktail off their extensive cocktail menu or eating. The burgers here are certainly bit**in' as the menu suggests (see my photos) very tasty and fresh, i must also recommend the chicken salad it is huge well worth every penny and so tasty, the salad dressing is to die!!! Drinks are fantastic and well worth the money, the cocktail menu is great and you don't need many cocktails to get merry I can tell ya, I was buzzin' off just one...i believe there was Rum involved!! ;) And why not, you're in Belize after all, home of One Barrel and old Master coconut Rum! And by night you are met the great buzz of a party atmosphere from locals and travelers alike having a great time!! You can even try your hand a drinking challenges here...drinking 5 bottles of beer...Beliken or Lighthouse of course (if you're familiar with the local bottled beers) out of Frisbee!!!! This place makes you feel like you are on a Caribbean island chillin' and enjoying life!! It provides everything a holiday maker could wish for, bit**in' food, bit**in' drinks, and a bit**in' atmosphere all topped off with value for money with a bonus of meeting some really friendly people!!! Can I get a Amen!!!The one thing I will say is that it is no longer on the beach, its been relocated to the road side but don't let that alarm you they are providing a beach environment through and through...you certainly feel like you at the beach, I don't know whether its the wooden frame of the place painted colourfully or the hanging t-shirts it just oozes of the beach!!!I love it there it is an absolute must place to visit for anyone travelling in Placencia Belize you won't regret it by day and you definitely won't regret it by night!!!Its one Bit**in'
We visited this bar on 2 occasions. One visit was during the day and the place was moderately filled. The staff was very friendly and the drinks were great. Our 2nd visit happened to be the last Saturday night before moving to the beach. The place was packed. The music was great and you danced even if that wasn't your original plan.
I'm kicking myself for not buying a Barefoot Bar t-shirt while I was in Placencia! Their shirts really do say it all. They make the stiffest, but most delicious and easy to drink, drinks I've ever had anywhere! The food is extremely tasty and the portion sizes are generous! And, the bartenders/owners provide good times! There was live music, games, and laughter all throughout this bar and I visited at least five different times during a week.
On our recent trip to Placencia we ate at a different place every evening. One place that we chose - because of its live music was the Barefoot Bar that advertised Live Reggae on the Sunday night that we went.I have eaten at this bar/restaurant before but I didn't know what to expect from the music.I was pleasantly surprised when we got there to find a lone rastaman, singing nicely and playing the keyboard over recorded backing tracks - it was great. The guy played everything from Bob Marley to Busy Signal, the level of sound was just right for this open restaurant and the food choice was extensive and we all enjoyed what we had. This bar/restaurant was good for all the ages in our party - who all enjoyed themselves.
