IRTRA is always kept spotless, such a contrast from the rest of Guatemala City. Nice rides and beautiful grounds.
This park is in the capital so visiting it is a great option for those who don't want to travel far outside of the capital. The park is very clean, has lots of rides for kids, teens, and kids at heart! There is also a nice zoo that you can visit and great eating areas if you decide you want to picnic there (yes, they let you enter the park with food).
Never expected to find this Disneyland like place in Guatemala, absolutely beautiful and enchanting park; a must visit if you come with children and have an extra 2 to3 days. Very nice hotels for 3 different budgets levels and great restaurants. There are several theme parks, if coming with children the giant water park and for the adults Xetulul Park with almost life size replicas of some important Guatemalan landmarks and of European cities and landmarks. A bit cumbersome to get there but totally worth it.
We enjoy Irtra and this is one of the better ones. It has rides, a zoo, a large swimming pool, walking areas, picnic areas, restaurants, ice scream, etc.. We entered for free since we had the Irtra card but we love there. Some sections could be improved to have a more "new" feeling to them even though there are some really nice and modern and "new" sections there.
One day after arriving in Guatemala, my girlfriend and I had to do this. It's open Thursday through Sunday and is 100 Quetzales to enter and then you have to pay additional to go on the rides but it's a bargain - 50Q more.So we paid 300Q all up plus food, which by theme park standards was stil good value. 5Q for water is the same as what you pay anywhere, icecreams for 5Q, 6Q, 8Q.We went on a Thursday and the place had people but not many. There was basically zero queuing needed. We either walked straight onto a ride or waited for the ride to finish and THEN got on.And the most important thing was that it was a serious blast. I've been to better but so what? It's super cheap compared to any other theme park you could ever go to. The value for money is great. We laughed so much. :)
I visited Guatemala because I sponsor a few kids there. My group was made up of three teens, two parents & staff. Everyone loved the rides - granted none of the kids or parents had ever been to an amusement park before, but I've been to several and it was fun. It isn't Disney, but there was plenty to keep us entertained for several hours. There is a kangaroo bounce that is more fun that it looks like it would be, log drop ride, bumper cars, crazy roller coasters - standard amusement park basically.
this was a fun and inexpensive park! i enjoyed the shows in the afternoon! the pool was a little cold though.
We went on Thursday and there were virtually no lines. My twin 4-year-old boys would stay on a ride and tell the attendant "otra vez" and would go over and over to their hearts' content! The price was very reasonable. For $85, our family of 4 got 5 hours of as many rides as we could ride, parking, lunch, and snacks. The majority of the rides were for little kids but there were some big kid rides too. Lots of variety for them to try. Because this park seemed to focus on little kids, it was very kid friendly. My boys loved the dinosaur play area. The detail of the dinosaurs was impressive. There were mats at the bottoms of the slides, bumpers under the teeter totters, grab bars and safety rails at tops of ladders, high sides on the slides. It is also enclosed by two giant snakes so it's easy to monitor their locations. There are lots of bathrooms with at least one bigger stall to accommodate you and a couple kids. My only bathroom complaint is that the spray soap dispenser is at preschooler head height and one of my boys, who likes to do everything himself, sprayed his eyes with soap. The rides were clean and well maintained. The staff was professional and did a great job of maintaining their rules. Everything felt safe. The parking lot is right next to the entrance so there is no long walks to the park. Getting there - we printed the directions that we got from their website and the highway numbers did not correspond to what was on our map. If you have a GPS or can use Google Maps/Bing Maps, use that instead. We got lost.
There is always a lot of people and the lines can sometimes be long but it is worth it if you love amusement parks. Everything is clean and well taken care of, the food is expensive considering the quality but it's safe to eat. The roller costers and other rides are great fun and you can get a card with 10 rides for a fair price.
It can be a bit too crowded sometimes, but the amusement park and the zoo have been a favorite place for my family for nearly a decade.
great place to have some entertainment and very good attention. Kids will enjoy a lot. Dust free and smoke free zone
It may be not as big as the most famous Amusement Parks in the world, but Mundo Petapa is actually world-class! Although this place caters more on the Guatemalan workers as one of their benefits, a non-member can come in with an inexpensive fee.1. The place itself is well-maintained and clean. The attractions are strategically located near each other. There is a locker room for a fee for people who have bags that need to be stored.2. The rides are good, although do not expect much G-Force defying attractions.3. There is a Cultural part of the park where it is good to people watch, or participate in public dances to Marimba and Cumbia music.4. The zoo is good, too. It seems like the animals are well taken cared. There are several peacocks and peahens with free range all around the area for your amusement. This place is not exactly something that will blow your mind off, but it is a very pleasant time to spend for a weekend to blend in with the locals in Guatemala city.
This is a great place to go with your family.Nice rides, very clean spaces, good food.A very safe place (very important in our city).
(That doesn't necessarily make it stand out, though. It is pretty much the only one)If you're in for a trip with your whole family you should try to check out their schedules in advance. You may not (or actually do) want to go during a heavy loaded day. Parking will be scarce and you will pretty much waste your entire day making lines. The rides in the park itself are mostly small but still enjoyable by an entire family. There's a pretty nice (albeit small) zoo and a cool dinosaur playing area for children. There's even dates in which you can see magic shows or concerts in their main plaza. All in all, IRTRA is a good place to hang out for a weekend and is relatively cheap for non-associates.You should, however, try to arrive having already eaten- there's hardly any restaurant worth its price inside.
I took my kid there twice already, and he keeps insisting me to take him back. Its clean, well maintained a lots of fun!!Never tought of finding a Park like this in Guatemala.
