Must do when in Puerto Viejo! Rent some bikes and be sure you come in early enough for one of the guided tours. Money goes directly to the center. And they do an awesome job of taking care of the animals. I really admire the volunteers for the amount of work they put in to it!
These people are amazing. Great opportunity to see the animals very close. They help the animals in the region who are injured and cure them, helping them to re-adapt to the jungle again. Staff are very knowledgable and passionate, all voluntaries.20 USD. 2 tours 9.30am or 11.30am You can tip your guide if you like as they do not get any money for being there. Tours in many different languages and they have voluntaries from many different countries.
Jaguar rescue centre is a 15minute cycle from Puerto Vjieco town and is really good value for money. The tour costs $18 and our guide was really informative and helpful especially when your compare it to the price of the sloth sanctuary which charge $150 and you have to book 6months in advance!!
Definitely worth a visit. Come help the animals be released back into the wild. Owls, jaguars, anteaters and the amazing sloth :)
Our whole family loved visiting the rescue center. Our guide Sergio was very helpful and friendly. We decided to pay a little more and do the private tour. It was well worth it to get to go inside the monkey enclosure and play with monkeys. I would highly recommend taking a tour and supporting this amazing organization.
My good friend IlluminataPhoto. I don't understand! Do you have any other better perspective to begin to actually save the nature or for you is better to remain passively indifferent to its destruction? We will like to send our greetings and a big hug for all friends of nature and trip advisor. Keep on fighting for nature! Pura vida. Sandro Alviani
My 11 year old daughters lived this tour. We were able to see many animals up close, and even were fortunate enough to see a newly hatched owl. Our guide from Holland spoke excellent English, and was thoroughly knowledgable about every animal. Highly recommend!
I loved the fact you were able to get up close to see the animals. Well worth the trip and your admission fees help to keep these animals healthy and to be released back into the wild.
Highly recommonded for those who want to experience different animals in CR. This place does not feel like they're taking advantage of any of the rescue animals. In fact you can tell the people here are actually there becuase they would like to help. Hope everyone who visit PV gets a chance to experience this as they give all proceeds to supporting this great cause.
The tour started exactly on time, the guide was very knowledgable, witty, down to earth and very practiced. The Rescue facility was well kept and it was obvious that the animals were being treated in such a manner as to eventually return them to the wild. Well worth the price of the "donation". I truly believe that the money is used to sustain the project.
