museo ometepe

just a small collection, so I would not recommend to plan it as a separate event - better go only if you walk by..

Ometepe is full of history and the residents have pride and respect of their land and past. Support the community by visiting this museum. The pottery is beautiful. Nearby is the coin museum with interesting stories about Nicaraguan money. It is in a lovely area to relax and enjoy where you are.

If you have half an hour of spare time, it's worth it to visit this small museum. I remember the entrance fee to be around 2-3$ which in my opinion was too high for what you get. There are three small rooms featuring items about the history of Omotepe including a model, many pictures and some inscribed stones from Pre-Columbian times.

This is a small, delightfully put together museum with some unique archelogical artefacts. The place is run by a local family who take much pride and interest in preserving the heritage of the island. Do visit if you can! The work they are doing is important and it's good to support local endeavours of this kind. You'll have a fun and quirky time indeed!
