Only a small square block but surprisingly quiet although traffic on all 4 sides. Many large trees give plenty of shade and, with the breeze blowing, it was very cool and pleasant. Very convenient as it is right in the middle of David with hotels, shopping, restaurants, and casinos all around.
We stayed in David for 2 months and one of our activities was going to Cervantes Park. Always something happenning here. Big water fountain in middle of park and lots of freindly locals ready to give you advise in Spanish, no English here . Good way to practice your Spanish.Park is very tropical with lots of trees and vegetation,in centre of city where all streets meet around the square. It is surrounded by stores, restaurants ,cafes, and hotels. Festivals and events are celebrated here almost weekly, seems Panamanians celebrate many events.Great place to relax, watch people and enjoy surroundings.
It's large and has a water fountain. The first time I saw the park was on Google Earth. I told myself that I am gonig to that park someday. I live close to the Park and go by there 2 or 3 times a week.
The park is more of a town center square but non the less offers a great location to people watch or to take a stroll in the evening. I think we attended an outside church one evening based on the music ( my Spanish is a little too weak for me to understand the discussions). The big downside to the location is the noise from all of the traffic surrounding the park. Car horns and car alarms create a pretty continuous distraction.
We have loved the 'new park'. It's a great place to rest in the shade for a few minutes and just people watch. There are all sorts of stores, cafes and vendors nearby to satisfy gustatory needs and thirst.
We live within walking distance of the park and spend a lot of time there. Our Bank is there, we buy our fresh Coconut water there, we shop there and during Holidays, we visit all the venders selling food & local fare and sit under the many shade trees to enjoy the parades & other events on the weekends. The Park is surrounded by good restaurants, clothing stores, gift shops, art & supplies, appliance outlets, and a number of good hotels that all our visiting friends, and our fellow motorcycle riders stay at.The Center is only a 10 minute ride from the David International Airport, and cabs are cheap! As mush of everything else there is to do & see in Chiriqui, Parque Cervantes is a real hi point.Don't miss it, Gary & Jennifer
There is often some community activity or celebration centered on the park. Or just hang-out in the cooler evenings. uh, sometimes the fountain isn't working.
More of a "center square" than a park. No play equipment, or picnic tables, or grass. But, it is a pleasant, shady place to relax, with lots of places to sit, and a pleasant fountain to watch. The seating is curvy so that it would be a great place for conversations and visiting. We stopped by this afternoon, and I parked at a grocery store and took a taxi, because I don't like the intense traffic of the really central areas in David. I was glad that we did that. The square had a bunch of people there, not enough for it to feel crowded, but it was definitely well-used space. The fountain was pretty. A nice spot to stop and relax if you're shopping in the central area, but not something we will go back to a whole lot while we are in the area. I'm glad I went once, though.
I will never, by choice, visit David again, but of course, I am spoiled by Costa Rica, where I live on the south coast.
These the kind of areas we look for when traveling. This park is where the community gathers. Street vendors align the walkways. Restaurants and cafeterias all around. We watched the local police salsa band put on a new years concert for their community. We ate meat on a stick. Had ice cream from one of the many shops.
Eat a "Raspado" (Snow cone but with condensed miik or natural flavors. My favorite is "coconut.) from these local vendors at the park. They're the best ones to buy. Watch the hustle and bustle of what Davidenos are doing-shopping, buying lottery tickets, going to church, walking by to rest at the park, etc.
was amazing, a great place, lots of views, parks, ocean, rivers. but mostly Rita and moty - was worth every second
It is the central park of David. The park is nice enough and clean. You can properly do the park in 5 minutes.
You can buy and icecream cone for .60cents and watch the people walk by. Very nice sculpture/fountain in the center. Lots of benches some flowers and many military police around.
