The beach is an average beach but good to spent some time with your family. You need to carry your own food as there is no canteen or restuarent available there.
The journey to this island is beautiful as you sail for 1 hour through the mahatma gandhi marine park to reach it. The ferry ride is awesome.. and t was raining when we went. Red Skin Island is also famous for snorkeling and scuba diving. It's a great place for sports enthusiasts. And also you can enjoying boating here. This island is typically like a swimming pool. You also get to see all types of fishes here. It's a must visit island. It's is open only for 6 months in a year.
red skin island, though its closed sometimes in a year as due to A & N Administration norms, any one out of jolly buoy or red skin will be open in a year for tourists. Red skin island is also a place of good interests as seen amongst tourists and all fellow travelers. one can have a very easy access to this place through boats or ships that operate from Wandoor Jetty in South Andaman, approx. 26 kms. from Port Blair airport, though permission for transit must be taken one day in advance from the administration regarding the forest area permit and boat fares and all. This place is full of aquatic wealth including diverse species of flora and fauna nests here in its most magnificent behavior. one can easily have a look around for all this including a sight of a dolphin or can also perform activities like glass bottom boat ride, snorkeling, scuba diving, boat chatting, game fishing etc. etc.very few lucky ones only get a chance to visit this place due to closure due to administrative reasons or people have to cope up with the visit to jolly buoy islands.
We can see corals here.it is a place for taking bath and enjoy.but we cannot enter into the island because the forest is very dense The toilet facilities is very poor
The Redskin Island is popularly known for underwater coral gardens and unspoiled beaches. The visitor’s may sometimes see the dolphins merrily playing in the emerald waters. It is more liked place than others for swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling. We used a boat from Wandoor village to Red Skin and Jolly Buoy islands and enjoyed all the items that we could. We availed a ride on a glass bottom boat to explore the colourful and vibrant coral world under the waters. There is flood light arrangement at the bottom of the boat through which we could see optimum number of living corals. The corals are abundant and pretty. It is wonder over wonder to see the underwater coral gardens and unspoiled beaches in the lap of the Virgin Island and unpolluted environment at Red Skin Island. It has given us the best type of eye-feast which we could never see elsewhere than here in Andaman. We were told that Red Skin island is part of the marine park of 15 small and large islands that are made up of open sea and creeks. It is regarded as one of the best found anywhere in the world. It attracts tourists from various parts of the world due to its mysterious attractiveness. In order to reach Red Skin Island, you should buy a ticket from Wandoor Jetty from there it is about 40 minutes drive away from Port Blair city.
The Redskin Island offers the lure of underwater coral gardens and unspoiled beaches. If you are really lucky you might even end up catching a view of the dolphins merrily playing in the emerald waters of the sea. Snorkeling is must at Redskin Island.
This is one preserved wild life island with real good ocean world, we had sea cucumber in our hand, the star fish and and over a dozen of coral, spotted some eel, stone fish, and so much . The only thing when we were back our backs had heat burns and real RED SKIN, iguess this is not the reason this is called Red Skin Island.
There is nothing as shelters for the travellers except four old style huts, The unofficial who accompany you in the boat will try to cheat you. There is not even a small shop. Very primitive arrangements. The boat ride was interesting.
They take daily rides from Marine National Park center in Wandoor, South of Andaman (far off, 1 hr drive from North Andaman where most of tourist places lie).....But it's very much worth the effort...I was amazed by shallowness...boat stopped almost half a km from the beach and we could walk on feet from there.....there're lots n lots of corals...so I strongly recommend to take pkg over the free coral sight...it takes a while to adjust but wonderful after that.
Excellent Glass bottom boat and Snorkelling experience.Awestruck on seeing corals through glass bottom boat.Beach is not clean. The restroom also not clean -the govt can appoint cleaning staff to maintain cleanliness.Snorkelling experience was wonderful
Its a replace meant island for jolly buoy island Same marine life, but open during moonsoon. Good quality of corals and under water experience. The cost of doing snorkeling and glass bottom boat ride is much less than any where in Andaman. No food available. No changing rooms available.
Glass bottomed boats are available for a lovely tour of the corals. Corals are plenty around the Red Skin Island as well as Jolly Buoy Island - the government permits coral tours for six months around Red Skin and for the other six months around Jolly Buoy Island to minimize their damage as the two islands are close to each other. The boatsman-cum-driver patiently points out the finger coral, brain coral, the red coral etc etc that makes the trip truly worth it. However, you need to be lucky that it is a clear sky. Clouds and rain will certainly affect viewing and not half as enjoyable. Another activity here is snorkeling but I would prefer Elephant Beach for snorkeling as the beach is more beautiful and longer.
An exotic island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Red Skin Island is a dream destination for all kind of water sports enthusiasts. it is more known as the gateway to the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. One of the best locations for snorkeling and scuba diving One can spot dolphins on the Island occasionally The neighboring island is called the Jolly Bouy Island. And, both Jolly Buoy and Red Skin remain open for 6 months, alternately.
We were charged 750 per head (+50 for permit per head), in that package transfer to Red Skin and Jolly Buoy and a session of snorkelling and glass bottom boat ride is included. But, the boat operators hardly show you anything and make a customery session. They will force you to pay additional amount for snorkelling session of 500 per head and 300 for glass bottom boat ride. This is simple cheating to squeeze more money from tourists who fall into their trap. They do not even take to Jolly Buoy island.
This is a small island with friendly and smiling local population. The beach is not all great and have small docile waves (not like normal big waves) giving the sea a feel of a big lake / dam. One can take a ride on boats with transperent bottoms (glass boats as it is normally called in these parts) to see corals (difficult to see on cloudy days) and engage into snorkeling (the same equipment is shared by different tourists) to see various sea life. Though good I feel there are better options like North Bay Island for the similar experience / activities.
