The Aquarium was impressive in terms of quantity and variety. But true to government maintained establishment's reputation , There was no imagination in display and making it attractive . Looked more like Laboratory in college !!. Tourism being major revenue earner , there has to be concerted effort to attract more tourists.Altogether, not a great miss.
Visited here as part of the Lakshadweep SPORTS package. Its an informative place - houses varieties of aquatic life specimens- fishes, corals, shells. They have a huge whale skeleton. There a few live fishes as well which are very colorful and beautiful. In addition there a couple of sharks as well.If you are visiting Kavaratti then this museum is a must visit place.

The Island itself has nothing much to offer, but the waters, the lagoon is extremely rich in Marine Life. Karavatti also has PADI certified Scuba Diving institute where even an inexperienced person is taught to dive with a short introduction. One can easily find a couple of places which offers water sport activities as well as snorkelling, glass botton boat and scuba diving. The waters are very rich in corals and marine life even in the shallows giving an opportunity to even a non-swimmer to see them. Karavatti is also rich in very large turtles and if you happened to be there on a new moon night then there is a treat waiting for you on the shore when the whole shore glitters with phytoplanktons- a kind of plankton that gives Lakshadweep waters its unique emerald green colour.
