french war memorial

nothing to see here its just a pylon, seems for the soldiers who scarified their lives during second world war.

This is the famous beach of Puducherry. The 1.5 km long promenade is the pride of the city with several landmarks like the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Dupleix, the elegant French war memorial and the 27 metre tall light house.

Must see place only if you are a BIG history enthusiast.Blink & you will miss this while driving across the promenade beach. All you can do is halt & click a picture.

The attraction is situated in a small garden just on road side of pondichery Beach. Even in morning a lock was on main gate. No body remains present here. You can see a small statue of a soldier from gate. May be memorial of french soldier but i feel nothing to see.

The memorial is nothing to write home about. I found it to be quite average. The surroundings can be maintained much better.

It is just a place to be seen. Nothing is special. No info abt it. All in Tamil or Hindi so hard for foreigners to understand its meaning.

I did not find anything great about this place. Just a place to be seen. Inscription is in french and hence cant read and understand. They should place some information about this place and its importance.

it is on beach road. the sight is good during evening time because of lighting otherwise its just an ok place.

A good memorial near the Promenade Beach; is a memorial (as the name suggests) of those brave soldiers who laid down their lives, for their country during the First World War. It was built in 1971.

easy to visit along the beach road. memorial to ww1 soldiers from India. fitting tribute....good to visit, even briefly.

Again not much to see here. Just like the old lighthouse. quite disapointed. I wish there was more attached to this place.

Very close to the beach. You may not waste time here as the entry is restricted Pondicherry being a French colony earlier has the memorial

On the promenade, the memorial is a quick stop and quite impressive. Pay homage to the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the Great War 100 years ago under the French flag.

The Statue and Park has restricted entry. Just have a Photograph at the spot on the Beach Road for your MEMORY.. :)

Rocky Beach was my favorite spot for evening walk. This was located on the rocky beach which is a major tourist attraction at Pondicherry for the evenings.
