Very beautiful, clean water but around the beach it stinks badly. Lot of locals heavily drunk, Unhygienic food, shabby beach. May be it's not the same throughout the year, we went there during New Year vacations and it was too crowded. So, couldn't stay there for long. Loved the ferry ride to this beach though. It was scenic :)

Plage Paradiso or Paradise Beach is outside the town. We took an autorikshaw who dropped us at Chunnambar. We can reach the beach only through water, and because of New Year tourism, there was quite a big rush for the ferry. We skipped all the games in the Chunnambar park and straight took a ferry for Rs. 75/- towards the beach. But once we reached the beach, it was worth the pain! A beautiful expanse of clean and see through water! Blue sky touching blue water with foamy milky waves that flows so beautifully! I have not see such clean beaches very often. You can spend a whole day here! Wish they had good food options and changing rooms

A lovely beach...very neat and clean beach..white sands...very clear water...Specific area marked by coast guards to swim and enjoy waters...proper changing facilities at beach to enjoy the waters... So far the best beach in India I have visited (after andamans). Must visit while in Pondicherry.....

Well no sand. Just big rocks with people all over then. And at sunset there are lots of people sitting around talking.

The 15 minute boat ride was good. Quite well organized. Beach was clean for Indian standards. Good place to play in water. There was a rope to indicate the safe distance to which a person could go and there were bay watch guys to alert those going closer to the rope as well. There were shades built and few trees that give shades as well. Toilet & bathroom facilities though present were below standards. There were some restaurants but we did not use any as we took some food. Kids were in water over an hour. It is better to go early (around 10 AM) so that it is not scorching hot. It was Rs.200/- per person and 100/- for kids.

+ away from the hustle bustle+ sparsely crowded+ clean beach+ nice boat ride- only one eating joint - very 'sarkari' (govt attitude) staff. poorly furnished seating.

krishnamohan_pulimi

if you want to see a bluish beach, just go this place. Dont get confused with names, just go to chunnmber boat house, from there they will take you to this beach via boat (200 per head),

Lacasitaindia

except the mini ride to the so called island, nothing to fancy. no shade, no trees, really worn out cafe and sitting under shade costs 75rs pr hour. Once you go, its enough!!!

Warm water and nice waves, very poor services but if you dont care about this you will enjoy a nice day in the beach. We came here @3 Pm only after having brunch (buffet) in the promenade with unlimited beer. The sun at this time isn't as harsh as at midday so I really recommend you talking into account weather and heat. Bring some snacks of your own and you are set to go.

Don't visit any other beach. If you like clean and slightly more private beaches then this is the place.

Chunnambar back waters, Chunnambar Beach/ Paradise beach all refers to the same place. One of the cleanest beaches of India, I have come across, the only ones which can beat this are in the Andamans! There just one odd eatery here & most of the place is soaked in silence.Try to come here in the late afternoon to avoid getting tanned. There are speed boat rides, group boat rides are available here. Boats take you to & from the beach; there is no other option to reach here.

Pondicherry (or Puducherry town) has many beaches, each with its own uniqueness. Prominent among them are Rock beach, Auro beach and Paradise Beach.About the place: Paradise beach is the only beach that needs you to pay an entrance fee in and around Pondicherry.Boat house beach, Paradise Beach, Chunnambar Beach all refer to the same place. Location: Paradise Beach is about 13 KM from Promenade and Railway station. On Cuddalore road in Chunnambar. Attractions:Clean beach, Clear blue water, great spot to relax and watch the sunsetRomantic placeWater sports If it is not summer, you can see some lagoons. Good place to tanTimings:Entry is allowed from morning around 10 AM to evening 5:00 PMWhile this place can be vastly quickly improved, it is still a great place to see in PondicherryWater sports:My first advice is do not take the water sports here unless you are experienced and a good swimmer. The reason is that the staff manning the water sports and guides are not trained, lack expertise in the water sports themselves, are inexperienced and lack any training in first aid administration and rescue. The equipment too, like, kayaks, sailing boats are not maintained as they are supposed to be. But do not be dampened, because the beach view is just pleasing to the eye and will be worth the visit anyway. For those who want to try water sports there is jet - ski , motor speed boat, kayaking, sailing and banana boat ride. Except sailing, these water sports are conducted in the lake preceding the beach near the sea, that needs to be crossed to reach Paradise beach. Costs:-There is a lake preceding the beach that needs to be crossed to get to Paradise beach. You can cross this lake by a motor boat or a speed boat or even a jet ski. There are various kinds of fee that needs to be paid. Entrance fee : INR 30Boat Fee : INR 150 (or INR 600 - INR 800 for a speed boat that can carry about 6 passengers) Parking : INR 15 (if you parked a two wheeler. INR 30 - INR 50 for four wheeler)Camera : INR 50 ( ?? I know! India needs to get away from that)No cost for camera on your phone :-) Each water sport has its own costFood:-There is a restaurant on the beach. Food is basicCarry your own snacks, water and soda in a backpack. This is always a good option.Stay and RomanceClose to the beach, there is also a place where you can stay. It is similar to a boat house or treat house. I would not recommend this, because it is away from city and the place is basic. If you plan in advance and contact the right people (example the 3 / 4 star hotels you stay in) you can have a private beach space cut off from the crowd and have a table set up for a private supper. Or even have a tent pitched for a night. Access to the beach closes by 5 PM. A good place for wedding photos and romantic photos as well. Please read my 'Best time to visit' notes below. Best time to visit:Need to know: -Due to its unique location, you need to cross a lake laying in the backyard of the beach to get to paradise beach. This is the shortest way to get to get to Paradise beach. You can also reach the place by land, but that route is not allowed for general public. Since you cannot cross the lake when it is dark, the timings are restricted. Around 10 AM to 5 PM. It takes about 25 minutes to cross the lake. You are allowed to stay on the beach for a limited time i.e., 2 hours. Best time in the year:-While you can visit the beach throughout the year, if you are sight seeing in Pondicherry and do not mind all those fees you have to pay, the lagoons are best visible just after monsoon and before summer. So, the best time is Oct - Dec. If you are a camera aficionado, this is the best time. Best period in the day to visit:-If it is sun you want, 12 PM - 3 PM If it is the evenings and sunset you desire, 3 PM - 5:30 PMFactor in the 25 min boat drive to beach and 2 hours limit on beachThings to watch out for:1. Do not take the water sports unless you are experienced, accompanied by an experienced and a good swimmer. 2. This visit and activity will take about 4 - 5 hours. So, you have to set aside half a day if you want to visit this place and are on sight seeing. 3. Restaurant is just basic. Carry water, soda, snacks and sandwiches.4. Follow all flags (beach warnings) and advice by beach watchers.5. The staff manning the water sports and guides, beach watchers and lifeguards are not trained, lack expertise in the water, are inexperienced and lack any training in first aid administration and rescue. 6. Do not leave children unattended7. This is a beach which is different from other beaches in Pondicherry. A small window is open to public to step into water. Follow them. The land surface below water is unique here. It can be shallow and suddenly slope downward. It can be shallow at one end and the next step can be steep. This applies even for the lagoons. Do not play in the water or swim unless accompanied. Follow the yellow line limit set for swimming. Do not cross this as it can be dangerous. 8. There are no lockers. So, travel light. 9 Bath rooms, toilets are available. But, are not clean.

This beach is aprox 15 km away from puduchery near a very small village, far away from highway. So it is not crowded and one can enjoy with more privacy at a silent place.. One can enjoy swimming as well as boating also.

Its an extremely clean and nice beach. That we had a private beach access through Le Pondy helped. There is a lake nearby which is also worth a visit specially during morning.

We heard of good beaches in Pondicherry. But its Wow... We travel all the way to paradise beach for 30 mins in power boat... Amazing experience. I would say this is the best place I like among all the other places in ponidcherry. Ticket price to this place is worth. Entry of beach is almost 15 kkm from main city. Full day visit.Beach was so neat and clean... Have all the arrangement to take bath.. In fact its very small Island.
