Access is from Tarikere - Chikmagalur road, depending on where you come from, you take a right/left at Kaimara. There seems to some toll collection for out of city cars. Road is in very good shape and meanders through estates.~ 8 km from Kaimara on this road, there is a sharp U with a signage directing to Mullayangiri. Peak is ~ 7 km from here and road is very nice for the good part of it. Last 0.5 Km gets narrow, but nothing difficult for anyone with some reasonable driving skills.Decent parking place at the top, and there are some steps, from parking to top, distance is ~0.5 Km with 140m elevation gain, takes about 10-15 min. Nice views and for a change no monkeys means peaceful time. This place is not to be rushed, like you, everybody is here to enjoy the serenity and peace, so my request is to drive slow, let others pass and no matter what, "don't honk". Use hill driving sense, and let those going uphill pass. I'm sure, it's nobody's agenda to hear constant honking so far away from city.Take a pledge of driving slow and no honking and enjoy the peace, after all this is the reason to go all the way up.Enjoy and have fun! Drive safe.

such an awesome place to be there. The blazing wind simply blows your mind and upon reaching the top of the Karnataka's highest peak, you see serene bells of temple.Worth visiting at least once.

Very beautiful view, at a very high altitude , with very narrow roads leading to the helm of this hill, this is a must visit.

Smell of fresh coffee in the air, the sight of lush greenery is the signs that welcome a city dweller to charming Chikmagalore. It forms the perfect repose for 3 or 4 days. There are many places of attraction. Like kallatgiri falls, baba budangiri hills, mullayangiri. But Maidadi near Kalasa is one picturesque place that makes one feel closer to heaven. There are many resorts, homestays and hotels to stay, but prior bookings are a must in any holiday season. A visit to this place will definitely rejuvenate the fatigued soul.

One of the must visit places if you are around Chikmagalur area.View from the top is amazing. I bet sunrise and sunset views from here would be just stunning.Road to the peak is generally very good - Awesome stretch until 2km point. Last 2km stretch is narrow, uneven and without barriers. This stretch is being re-laid as of March 1st so should be better soon.Ample parking available at the point where road ends. You might find some snacks and small hawkers at that point but better to carry some food and water of your own.

It was very best experience in early morning and drive was adventurous. One of our best memories of 2014 trips.

The drive is smooth except for the last stretch of around 1 KM which could be difficult if there are vehicles in the opposite direction. Also, there are no safety rails at the ends of the roads. After you reach the place, it is a steep climb up to the peak. The small temple atop the hill is simple and clean. The view on a clear day is superb and one can enjoy a few minutes to enoy the view. This place is supposed to be the highest peak in India between the Himalayas and Nilgiris and is worth a visit.

The mountain top is covered with clouds and there is a pleasant wind blowing. The views are fantastic and for the the religious oriented, there's a nice temple 300 steps higher.

Beautiful views but dangerous drive. The Road is only a few feet wide with enough space for 2 cars to move side by side at best. Drive carefully and enjoy the view.

The views were beautiful. The walk was easy as it is short but steep. It was very crowded, but everybody was friendly. There is a place at the road head where you can get fruit and drinks..

dmbangalore

No doubt a great place but be cautious if you are with older people /young kids as its not for them. Its difficult & tad dangerous to reach the top .Avoid driving your car & take a cab instead .

We enjoyed traveling and going arround's the Ghat's the highest Peek on western Ghat's .this will consume almost 1/2 of your journey day, so plan your trip accordingly. ensure to carry some snaks and drinks, dont have much shops on the way.. one you reach destination you will be able to see some local sellers
