The Rathore Dynasty of Jodhpur allowed a family member to start a new kingdom in Bikaner on grounds that he gave up all claim to the Jodhpur throne. The museum is fascinating. No, the fort isn't as stunning as Jodhpur's or as evocative as Jaisalmer's, but you can make a good stop here on a circular tour of Rajashan.
This fort looks plain when compared to the forts in Jodhpur or Jaipur. Do not waste your time and money.
Without visiting Junagarh Fort visit of Bikaner is incomplete. A good fort to understand the Indian culture and to see the life of Indian Kings. Very Near to railway station and local markets. Best time to visit Nov to March.
Thais Fort is amazing.. Junagarh fort in Bikaner is seems like other fort in Rajasthan. But Every Fort in rajasthan their own story. Here for fort u take a auto. After that you enter from Karan Poll. And get entry ticket for fort and museum. Here you got a authorized guide free. Fort is awesome. Here you see weapons and a Plane and About king family Rao Bika Ji. In Museum lot of things you see like clothes of kings of Bikaner, Medal and other Prizes which they won and receive.
By the time we visited Junagarh Fort, we were pretty "Forted' out after all the other fantastic Forts we had visited. Nonetheless this is still worth a visit, but I did not enjoy it as much as Amber Fort Jaisalmer and Agra.
When we enter in fort gate there money changer bank. and very large car parking in side of fort. very easy to find our car and driver. when we buy out ticket. there tour guide(free) they always helpful and teach us all story about fort. fort visit not passable if you are going alone in side.
Hey guys,Am back wid more opinion. This experience is specific to the museum only, which is 'outside' the fort (but in the premise).People who have heard of stories of the Xtra specialist things Royal families had, shud definitely enjoy the visit. The museum is situated in the far right corner of the open area of the fort. So can be easily missed, but like is said if u r interested in the things royals owned u shud visit. I don't know how but this government museum has preserved things well.Garments, furniture, armour, paintings, photographs just to name a few. Some of the things are just priceless.Sadly wasn't able to see the fort, maybe next time.;-)Regds Bed tester
We flew to Rajkot for our trip to Gir Forest. On the way to Sasan Gir, we decided to take a small diversion and visit Junagadh fort on the way. We had heard so much about the fort from tourism advertisements, but the trip turned out to be a disappointment. The fort is maintained very badly and the guide service was very inadequate and not value for money. The two deep wells were interesting, but badly maintained. The place was also not hygienic. Gujarat tourism can do much better !
Awesome! Takes about an hour and a half. Audio aid is available for guiding through the palace. Make sure the ear phone protectors are replaced when you get them
A very nice walk down the lane of history. Beautiful fort. Decently maintained. Very warm and courteous staff/guide.
Its a clean and well illustrated fort. Its not the oldest fort or the most impressive, but it has a great library and some very niche artefacts in its inventory. The Bi-plane is a great thing not seen much today, the old weapons are well maintained and there is even an old exchange which would be akin to the Errickson plug and play exchange or yesteryears. The instructions to roam around are good and if you carry the recorded assistant around, its a great help. You do find the authorized guides there, but I would still recommend the recorded and official version. The guide we had had too much personal and irrelevant bias to what he conveyed to us. Also, he was more interested in reaching out to foreigners rather than us who were actually interested in knowing more about the palace. It takes about 2 hours to see everything and I would advise carrying water and some titbits to eat. Old people may miss it. Children will enjoy it. Dont miss the museum. The range of weapons are amazing.
Brilliant Palace .....Architecture n Museum are superb. The prized possesions of the King are preserved very beautifully. The Swords , utensils n Arms are a must watch. Kings Darbar n related dispaly are superb
This fort is situated at the heart of Bikaner City...well maintained forts of Rajasthan...u have to buy a ticket and they allow batch wise to view the fort along with the guide...it takes totally 45 mins to view the full fort..must watch weapons and the aeroplane used in the wars..
It is one of the very few Fort's that have been maintained in such a pristine condition, There are many attractions and museums within the premises to surprise you, I specially loved the old aircraft , almost prehistoric telephone and various weapons at display. I also fell in love with the history of the place and it was surprising to know that Bikaner's emperor commanded the Indian army in world war. Overall it is a great dip in history and i would recommend this to everyone visiting Bikaner.
The fort is interesting. But you'll be disappointed if you have been to Jodphur or Jaisalmer. Nothing to really see from the outside. Bikaner is dead flat. But really good inside - and the free guided tour is good.
