Kapaleeshwarar Temple, the Divine Shiva Temple in Chennai is a must visit place. Apart from the story surrounding Lord Shiva and Karpagambikai, visitors must know that a miracle happened here and there is a 'Sannithi' for Thirugnanasambandar, the holy disciple of Shiva and Angampoompavai. It was in Mylapore, that the sage brought back to life the girl Angampoompavai who had died after a snake bite. Her ashes were preserved by her father Sivanesan Chettiar and when the sage Thirugnanasambar visited Mypalore, he was told about the girl and his song narrating the festivals of Kapaleeswarar temple brought the girl back to life. The very first step inside the temple will liven up your innerself when you go with devotion and faith.
Besides parking being a night mare. It was a great experience.. They can maintain it more cleanly. They should regularly clean the oil lamp lighting areas and they should keep more dust bins inside the temple. The sevas and pujas are done well. A must if you a tourist in Chennai.
Kapaleeshwar Temple is a grand absolutely gorgeous old, old temple in the heart of Chennai. It is amazing that a place so venerably old could exist with such a modern city bustling around it.The carvings are faded with age, but you can still see the intricacies. It's solid stone like all old Indian temples. The evening Aarti which i attended was pleasing. Sat and meditated for a bit and it felt really good. Another really nice thing about this temple is that it's really clean. The environment manages to be very serene and vibrant at the same time.Go for marvelling the ancient temple art and the serene atmosphere.Don't forget to eat at Saravana Bhavan just outside the temple. The simple south Indian food you get to eat there is out of this world!
Located at a prominent place of the city it attracts lots of people from various parts of the city & country...
Nice place to devote the GOd of Kapaleeshwar and devotees are praise the lord with their items. I feel very nice environment and did Pooja there. While I watching the status and art work did so many years before got stunned.

Temple is so peaceful and lovely ambience and turn around to be wish come true. Love the ambity and understand that being in chennai, one of the best place to Visit, Lovely place
It is a temple par excellence, situated in Mylapore is a hub of all kinds. Brahminical food to Brahminical culture in the current day trend. Awesome
especially on ekadashi or poornima. You can witness a proprer worship with indian crowd. It is also good to just seat there and "meditate", just soak the vibe. It is one of the places in Madras that you have to see.
Its a beautiful old temple in the heart of Chennai. Mostly built with black stone, the visit provides a solace. Usually the place is crowded & there could be huge rush over weekend / festivals. Parking is a major challenge.
A beautiful temple. Had a very peaceful darshan when we were there. One of the must visit place if you are in Chennai.
