We had been looking for plays at Prithvi for a while and were always unable to get it on short notice. This time we booked over a month in advance and what an experience it was.... We were impressed by 2 things; One, the respect for everybody's time. Second, everybody's comfort with all cell phone's being switched off. The seating opened on time (30 minutes) before the show with the hit of a bell so did the play. The seating is cozy and not as much leg room as one would like. however, the execution of the play, the lighting and the overall experience is amazing. We saw Einstein by Nazeerudin Shah on Einstein's Birthday and the author Graham Emanuel was here in Mumbai and on the show.... Couldn't have chosen a better date :)

Prithvi theatre is located very close to the Juhu beach. It houses some of the best plays. The Prithvi cafe located at the same place offers nice food with warm ambience. It is a wonderful place to watch a play and chill out at the cafe.

The plays here still remind you of the original ones where the actors were at a close distance and you didnt have to strain your eyes to see the expressions. However, please ensure that you reach on time since they will not allow you to enter if you are late. Also, there is no parking within the complex and parking outside gets crowded. If you are a theatre enthusiast then a must visit

Prithvi Theatre, for those in love with literature and theatre and music and poetry, is a heaven. A home away from home. Simply built, the magic of this place lies in its history and the institution's capacity to attract great talent. The Prithvi cafe is another outstanding place to visit, and the Irish coffee better than any I've ever tasted.

There is nothing really outstanding about this 'edifice'....no architectural grandness , no rambling spaces, no cutting edge acoustics , no hallowed hallways & yet it has greatness in every inch of its space owing to the passion, generosity & vision of its founder-donor, the late Prithviraj Kapoor He read well that the rich land hungry city of Bombay will need the greatness of a smallish space to keep alive the tradition of funding & sponsoring the creatives ....Prithvi truly is a god send to the suburbs of Bombay. You can't be living in or visiting Bombay if you don't visit Prithvi !!!

5 years in Mumbai and now I visit Privthi theatre? Well, mistake realised and rectified. Won't let it happen again. It is a historic monument of performing arts that was founded by the grand daddy of Hindi cinema, Prithvi raj Kapur. And a great effort has been made by the descendents to revive as well as restore this piece of history. A well maintained place with impeccable view and acoustics. Buying a ticket and being seated here is a privilege enough. And if the play happens to be good, that will be an additional bonus. Must visit place.

Prithvi is a must do for every theatre goer.Beautiful stage in the centre of the well, very good acoustics, lighting. With a seating capacity of just about 200 people, this theatre is very strict about entry timings. The quaint Prithvi cafe, serving Irish coffee and Kahva,is equally popular 'adda''of arty types and college students alike.Parking is a nightmare,so take a taxi if you don't have a driver. Most week days have 6.00 and 9.00 pm shows, weekends have additional 11.00 am show.

25th of January 2015 is the day which will be enriched in my mind and heart for years to come since this was the day when I finally got an opportunity to visit the Prithviraj Theatre which was the brainchild of Prithviraj Kapoor way back in the year 1944 and then it was over the years inaugurated once again on 5th of November 1978. The reason why this place is unique because it has a restaurant which serves excellent choice of Breakfast as well as Hot Beverage along with a Sunday Brunch and different choice of Wine (for Lunch) on one side and on the other the theatre was showing different plays. After we enjoyed a hearty breakfast we decided to watch the play RaavanLeela on the spot which i may say was indeed quiet funny and hilarious.Anther thing which really touched me was the number of people who kept on coming to this wonderful place which is situated in the residential area.

Prithvi is a must visit if you are in Mumbai. The plays here are one of its kind. Some having celebrities. The cafe outside the theater is a must try. I have had the best food there! A welcome change from the fast paced Mumbai, the place is calm and serene.

This is one place I love to go to. If not for a play then to just sit at the cafe talk to friends and spend a leisurely evening. It is a place that always feels cosy and yet inspiring, the warm yellow lights give a sense of belonging. It is was good 5 months after which I had gone to Prithvi for their Carnival play and it was just great. The small skits were very good. Looking to back again for other good plays

Love the place. A very relaxed atmosphere (but can get crowded) and some very good quality snacks! The Irish coffee is great and a long time favourite!
