这里是甘地生前在孟买的住所,里面有展出很多相关的文物与照片。但没来有没有遗憾,因为在很多地方所展出的文物多很多,所以这里仅仅只是『甘地住过』的地方。
Great mahatma Gandhi's life activities recorded and shown in photos.A golden treasury of wisdom-thoughts & glimpses of life.Generations to come,it may be,will scarce believe that such a one as this, ever in flesh and blood, walked upon this earth.(Einstein)
His house is his museum .. It's free to visit,, his books, his pictures his simple life there is in the same place.. There is people who published his books Manuel ,,the students are studing at his library. His simple room where he waved , ate and worked for Indiens library was very interesting for me. Many boxes with miniature of his story give you a review over what he had done for his country. The children sell outside handmade bag, braclet ets...I really like it.
I learned a lot about Gandhi and his life. It is not a big museum so this can be done in one hour. Very clean and organized - a basic museum with good organization.
Gandhi Home and a place reeking with history right in the middle of a busy mumbai. As you enter you see photos of people who were strong influences on Gandhi, people tend to miss this and move within fast, take your time. Its not a place you want to visit in a hurry. You can appreciate this place and its simple and non-apparent importance only if you take the time to understand its history. on a side note, it can get hot and stuffy if you go on a very hot day
The Gandhi museum is located in a quiet street and looks very simple from the outside. Entrance is free. In the museum you can see the whole history of Gandhi, an incredible leader that lived very simple and modest. It is truly amazing to see the room where he lived and worked.
Thoroughly enjoyed this museum, but then Gandhi is someone I have admired for many a year and this added an extra level of interest for me, although it would be informative and interesting to anyone else. The setting was a surprise, don't know what I was expecting to be honest but not a house on a residential street in Mumbai. The archive and book section downstairs was interesting and the puppet section with events through Gandhi's life added a new element of interest.Whilst the museum was moderately busy it had an air of calm and peacefulness to it.You can buy a good selection of books at the entrance / exit - and the pricing was very keen.Very much worth a visit and I would definitely recommend to other travellers
In contrast to the rest of what we saw of Mumbai this house is in a quiet, normal looking suburban street. The musem is interesting enough even if you have only a passing interest in Ghandi so worth the stop if you are in the area. No charge for entry.
Loved the mini doll displays of Gandhiji's life events portrayed chronologically....a must see!! A feeling of peace and serenity when you enter the museum.
The place is in the heart of the city. Parking is a big challenge and visit early hours to avoid getting stuck in the traffic. The adjacent roads are under construction at the moment.
Nice simple museum about the Mahatma, nice way to get an introduction to his life and beliefs. Also, an interesting building on a relatively quiet and walkable street. The dioramas are a bit corny, but actually well done and do tell his story in about 20 vignettes. There is also a library for hard-core Gandhi disciples. Museum is free if I recall correctly, but welcomes donations and purchases.
Mumbai is busy so this small tribute museum to the Mahatma was a lovely experience. Artifacts from Gandhi's time in Mumbai which he spent in this house. Miniatures showing significant periods of his life was educational .
Visited the Gandi museum in October.Very interesting insight into Gandi's life and work.Well worth a visit.
A very simple exhibit summarizing the highlights of Ghandi's life through pictures, documents, personal items and dioramas. Start at the 3rd level of the house and take your time to read the captions and documents on display as you make your way down to the entrance. There is no entrance fee, but a donation box at the entrance welcomes any voluntary contributions. Touring the house takes about an hour. It is easy to get a cab in the Main Street next to the museum.
This museum is a must when visiting Mumbai. The life of Ghandi is portrayed in a series of dioramas which are very artistic and which have excellent explanations. To see the room where Ghandi worked and the balcony where he so often stood was a moving experience.
