About 10 restaurants in one place! Good for ramen-hopping.The restaurant owners know people come for ramen-hopping, so don't be shy to order small servings for sharing!
Asahikawa Ramen Mura – – Ramen lovers, get there early, choose your restaurant and squat as that place can get busy really quickly. We stopped by on our way from Soun Gorge to get to Otaru. Fortunately, we just beat the lunch crowd as the lines were quickly forming while we were still ordering. Great stop!
Unless you have no other options for Hokkaido ramen during your visit, this place will then be worth your while. We had much better ramen in elsewhere including Sapporo, Teshikaga. For those who are keen to shop, there's a Uniqlo just across the road.
I didn't intend to go there, but since the GPS in my car was flagging this as a popular destination and it was close to the Otokoyama Sake Museum, so spent another 5 mins driving there. It is a small hut with around 8 famous ramen shops under one roof. Though it is convenient, you can't try all of them in one shot unless you have a big stomach. During the busy hours in winter, you may have to line up outside which isn't a pleasant thing to do. In a nutshell, unless you have a car, don't bother getting there. You can find most of these ramen shops in downtown.
Travelled by bus to the ramen village. No signages around to guide you to the place. Bus driver couldn't speak a word of English (it's a local bus), so we had to go with whatever we could understand from him. When we got there, it was just a building with the famous ramen establishments located in one place. Half of them were closed for dinner. The ramen shrine wasn't impressive. After dinner, we found that we missed the last bus back to our hotel. So we had to go to a nearby Uniqlo shop to ask for help to call a taxi.
We got there a little early before the shops opened at 1100. We had a train to Biei to catch so didn't stay long. However, no big deal. The Village is just a cluster of ramen shops with a souvenir store. You can get the same in the city rather than travel all way here to eat ramen.
We took The Fun Fun bus, stopping at various sites, this being one. We were hoping for both a visual and gastronomic experience, like an entertainment area in a larger city. Instead we ate average fare at a place looking like a truck stop next to a strip mall. I guess one's expectations need to be adjusted accordingly for the city being visited.
It's located 15-20 minutes drive from JR Station Asahikawa. Bus is not convenience as the frequency about 1hr a bus. In the cold weather and strong wind, we decided to take cab. We paid about 2000yen per trip, it's very expensive but we shared by 4 persons. No Q during low peak season, we choosen the most crowded one for try. It's very nice, pls must add egg. The next day after we got our rental car, we go again and trying another crowded shop. Abit different for the soup compare to yesterday one but both also taste good. I would said must try if u r at Asahikawa!
The ramen village was located near a couple of strip malls. It is made up of 8 ramen stalls and a mini shrine and a souvenir store. We chose the stall with the longest history, since 1947, which was right next to the shrine. Each of the ramen stalls was quite small, less than 20 seats. We arrived about 1130pm and waited for about 20 minutes for seats. Since the stall seemed to be famous for its soy sauce ramen (RMB 750), all 4 of us ordered that while our toddler has the mini salmon roe bowl (RMB 400). Our food arrived after 10 minutes. Ramen was nice and chewy but the broth seemed rather flat with overwhelming soya sauce flavor. The pork wasn't nicely grilled too. All of us agreed we much prefer the famed Teshikaga ramen shop that we chanced upon near Lake Mashu just 2 days ago. Lines started getting significantly longer about 1pm. Suggest to arrive about noon to avoid waiting time. It had limited parking (free). Try parking at Uniqlo across the road.
As mention above I had a soya ramen in one of the shop and hop into another shop for the salt ramen , both taste delicious , service was fast in both of the shop . After my lunch here , went to uniqlo for shopping , went to a nearby pharmacy to buy my cosmetic and supplements all within walking distance .
The Ramen Mura is not close to any other attraction and it is close to stores like Homac outlet.You have around 10 ramen restaurant choices but they are quite similar to each other.Worth a drop by lunch if you are driving. You probably have better choices in the Ramen Republic in Sapporo.
