Visited this park in February. It's located just outside the Nakajima koen subway station. Covered with snow everywhere with a few ice and snow sculptures. Good site to play in the snow for kids. The pathways were strewn with sand in some places but was still slippery in certain places. So need to be careful walking on the snow covered path.
This park is gorgeous in winter, all covered in snow. At the South end of the park near the sports centre free ski equipment is available, we had a great time trying our hand at cross country skiing.
This is a wonderful place in winter with the whole park covered in snow. I discovered that you can hire the cross country ski gear for free at the south end of the park. It is enjoyable and fun doing the whole track and it is fun for beginners. The equipment rental is run by the municipal sports centre and is absolutely free and staff are so friendly and helpful.
This park has a small cross country ski course, boots, poles and skis are available free for you to have a go apparently between the months of January to March staff are friendly and helpful
Stumbled upon this park as it was near the hotel that we stayed. A not so big park with maple and gingko trees. There's a couple of ponds in the park and wild ducks can be seen swimming in the ponds. You can also find a smaller closed park within the park which is only open at 8.30am. The park is beautiful in autumn. Saw a few locals taking photos in the park. The park is easily accessible from the nearby hotels.
This large park is located in the back of the Novotel Sapporo hotel just a few blocks away from the bustling Susukino area. Great for relaxing, bird watching and walking/running. There are ponds and a brook flowing through it.
We went here based on positive reviews here and on other sites. Compared to the impressive gardens in Kyoto, Gifu and Tokyo, it was a bit disappointing and actually quite small. The most interesting aspects of it were a statue of Leonard Bernstein (he apparently founded a music festival there) and one of the few shrines in Sapporo at the south end. It is very easy to access via the subway system though and is not really out of the way for people staying in central Sapporo. It is worth a visit if you are into birds (we saw falcons, varied tits and a few other species there easily) or just want a short stroll before visiting one if the beer gardens.
This is a large park with a brook running through it. Lots of black birds and some water fowls living there. It has a closure of traditional garden inside that opens at 8am and closes at night. Good place to visit and relax, about 5 minutes from the nearest subway station.
Great place to chill out away from the noise of the city. Lots of great manicured garden surrounding a central pond. Also includes a concert hall, a museum, an observatory & two shrines.
I knew that Sapporo had a lot of snow in winter, but I expected for the trails in major parks to be cleared. Not the case. I really anticipated taking a walk in that park while my baby was sleeping in a stroller, hoping it would be a beautiful peaceful experience. My stroller is a hard-core jogger that can take any terrain. Except for a japanese park in winter. The trails a really narrow and uneven. The park may be lovely, but I could see most of it, because my stroller kept getting stuck in the snow. There aren't enough signs showing which way to go, so I kept guessing my way out just to get back to a wider path. It felt like a struggle, not a peaceful walk. I'm sure this place must be great in other seasons, but in winter it's just full of snow. There's nothing else. I wouldn't go there again even without a stroller. And I wish they would make those pathways wider, at least enough to fit a stroller or a wheelchair.
I loved this park when we traveled to Sapporo in November. It was such a nice, peaceful park. We visited when it was snowing and it was a very beautiful landscape.
A very pleasant place to meander, sit and read. Take a look at the very modern Sapporo Concert Hall and the very old and large white and blue wooden building nearby (purpose unknown).
This garden was near our hotel .The Japanese garden inside is beautiful. It is possible to have a boat on the lake or just sit back and relax on a bench
