Quite lose to legazpi downtown. Great view of the mayon vocano and cagsawa ruin. Quiet, green, beautiful enviornment. The local tour guide can help you taking some funny pictures of the ruin bell tower. you can pay them some tips. it's better visit here together with Daraga Church & Lingnon hill since they are close and on the same trip way(one day will be enough for these three place).
We stopped here to take a pic of the old church because my brother and sister had a pic from the 70's so I had to do it too! We paid 3 or 30 pesos for parking (I can't remember) and it was really close to the tower. Our driver was set up by Donsol Eco Tour and they let us stop here on our was to Donsol to see the whalesharks.
This is where people have been burried after Mt. Mayon erupted. Despite the sad the history is a breath taking scenery and to pray for the lost lives.Every spot is a picture perfect place. They are planning to add a garden but still underconstruction.Definitely worth visiting.
Cagsawa is a town burried by Mt. Mayon when it erupted more than a century ago. What was left is the belfry of Cagsawas Church. Cagsawa is now a park with lots of souvenir store. There is also lots of trained guide who can take your picture using many photo effect techniques that will make your visit worthwhile, especially when you're into facebook photo sharing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at Cagsawa last Saturday morning and we would definitely recommend it to anyone spending time in Legazpi. The site really is beautiful at the base of Mayon and the belltower and the ruins of the church are quite spectacular with such an amazing background. The whole site seems well looked-after, very neat and tidy. Near the belltower and ruins there are some lovely little stores and restaurants with an array of colourful Bicol handicrafts for sale. The prices are very reasonable and the sales people were friendly and helpful. The stalls are very sensitively incorporated into the whole site and have been designed with quite a lot of taste, so kudos to the Cagsawa Museum for creating such a harmonious marriage of history and commerce! Although most of Mayon was covered in cloud when we were there and only the green lower slopes were visible, the site was still beautiful and remarkably peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed the hour we spent there before moving on to Daraga Church and Lignon Hill. We would certainly recommend Cagasawa- a definite 'must' for visitors to Legazpi!
It is easy and cheap to go on your own. Just ask the locals , who are very friendly which jeeneys to take from Legaspi City.
Très bel endroit, émouvant quand on sait que 2000 personnes ont trouvé la mort ensevelies dans l'église par une coulée de lave.Belle vue aussi sur le Mayon, artisanat sympa autour du site
