Best beach i've ever seen so far. Very white sand and crystal clear water. A bit far but it's all worth it (2 hour boat from the town). There is one resort at the of the island but we chose to camp out. There is a local store near the shore and a water pump there is no available source for fresh water so you have to pay 10 pesos per pile. We visited the nearby island and had a short hike and the view was spectacular. On one side is the view of the whole island of the calaguas and the other side (i don't know what it is called) is where you can see philippine sea meets the pacific ocean (huge waves and great rock formations). Recommended for large group tour. Reminders: No phone signal at the island No electricity so load up all those powerbanks! They have cottages where you can have your group sessions.Locals have generators but they will turn off the lights at 10pmBring volleyball they have nets along the shore.

This Island is a must-visit place. The beach is crystal clear with very fine white sands. It is a peaceful place when we were there since it was of peak. The banca ride was not as wavy as my friends experienced. We stayed in Waling-waling Resort and our accommodation is super great! We rented our own Cabana with restroom and bath. We were also able to use the front Cabanas during the day since we were the only guests in the resort. Food was delicious! You can go to the hills to view the sunrise and sunset.

Calaguas is very very beautiful. It is comparable to the white sand beaches of Boracay except that you don't go to Calaguas to party. You go there to camp, relax and have fun. The scenery at the hills will remind you of Batanes. The 12 hour travel was very much worth it! You can read about our DIY 2D1N Calaguas itinerary in my travelblog herehttp://laieatsandtravels.tumblr.com/post/112511806492/2-days-1-night-calaguas-trip

Do not go there unprepared! Pack your bags with a lot of courage and survival materials. Ohlala... the waves of the Pacific Ocean makes my heart pump out and makes me sing...♪♬ LET IT GO!!! LET IT GO!!! I'M ONE WITH THE WIND AND SKY!! ♬♫♯.. It was really a survivor-inspired getaway. We experienced the long line in water pumping station.. good thing I brought a tent.. tent rental is hard because it was a peak month. But summer indeed, it rains.. thus giving us uncomfortable sleep. Also bring drinking water, because drinking water and sodas are tripled in cost. And the bathrooms, shower rooms very unpleasant. But amidst all the unpleasantness, there is a good prize.. the island is really breathtaking! It's really worth all the adventures.... Thank God I've seen that Island.. It's beauty is really captivating that I want to go back.. Give me the courage again :)

I discovered this paradise with my lazy siblings last August. A rainy season already but was so lucky to get a sunny days there (3days & 2nighst). Camping, no electricity, no satellite & no restaurant, but it's absolutely one of my favorite trip ever! It was a perfect getaway with my siblings that in the end it made them realized that we can still live a life without all the modernity we have around nowadays. No much tourists that time, it was perfect! I will not take time no more to describe how beautiful the place is as every review they write here is certainly true. It's becoming a hobby now that every time I come back Philippines, me and my gang (siblings) has to find a beautiful paradise in the vicinity - Bicol Region. I look forward to find another paradise before the year-end and be tanned. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Not only one but 4 islands that we visited on this summer beach getaway!. I went together with my brothers and sisters from Ang Lingkod ng Panginoon Alabang, my beloved community. We also invited friends to join us. We had a great tour guide who is really familiar with the place. We left Alabang around 11 pm and hired 2 vans to take us to the Camarines Norte port. We went to Maculabo, Calaguas, Balagbag islands then the following day to Pinagkastilyohan sand bars. It was like in a dream....the stuff that you see in your dreams. We camped out on the beach, survivor-style and cooked our food right there. It was the perfect rest for me.

The beauty that Calaguas has to offer is undeniable. The boat ride to the island is a treat itself -- especially if you love seeing islets and also, being splashed with water every so often. You have to be prepared cause it's going to be a really, really, really long ride -- if I remember it right, over an hour or so. The island is popular for its seemingly untouched powdery sand beach and extremely clear waters, but what I remember and loved most about it is the trek up its many hills to do a bit of bird watching and nature-appreciation. There's also a hill you could climb for a fee (I don't know why there's a fee, I think it's fifty pesos each) which would give you access to the best view of the island. We met a little local girl as we climb, and she told us there's a better view near their house. We trusted our instinct and followed her, and she took us to this spot that could win any man a woman's heart if he happens to propose there (haha). We talked to the girl and her cousin who was there when we got to the spot, and they said there are people interested to buy their land and they do not really want that. We stayed there to enjoy peace and quiet, but decided to leave when this one group came to take selfies, scream, and talk really, really loud.We also explored the backside of the island and were able to mingle with the locals. There's a school, there were lots of houses, and lots of people to talk with. They were really nice, they let us use their comfort room for free too (there were a lot of people when we went to Calaguas, hence the long queue to use the make-shift bath/comfort rooms). They told us of a port being constructed at their side of the island which would serve as a dock, drop-off point for tourists. There's also construction going on at the beach side of Calaguas, probably another resort (oh no!). If you're the type who wants to relax and stargaze at night, you will love Calaguas. There was loud music when we were there, but probably because it was peak season, and some people want to party. Overall, if you want a holiday album filled with beautiful pictures (of course, aside from the fact that you're in it), Calaguas is a great choice.

Calaguas is such a beautiful island. I was with my travel buddies and we enjoyed the place. It's definitely one of the best island to visit...from the clear water, fine white sand and surrounding sceneries - almost paradise. It's a secluded place, far from the crowd. A very laid-back island, simple and stress-free. It's where you can experience a simple life and enjoy.. Indeed, a paradise! :)

me and my niece were the only ones frolicking in the perfectly aquamarine crystal clear waters and super fine white sand! The month was still perfect without the terrifying big waves that we were told that we would encounter depending on the season. During night time, we had fun pointing at the stars as the sky was super dark with all the stars twinkling like gems. but don't get your hopes up, it's just a simple island with no resorts whatsoever. We rented a tent for php 300 and we brought our own food and water from vinzon's market first. Nevertheless, with all that heavenly beach just to ourselves, I say it was a perfect getaway!

Calaguas is beyond my expectations. I was not prepared for the beauty it offers. The almost 2.5 hours of rough boat ride was worth it. Mahabang Buhangin is one of the best beaches I've seen so far, even better than the crowded Boracay. The fine white sand, pristine water and the clear blue sky will surely melt all your stress away. Truly a backpacker's haven! This place is truly amazing. :)Don't forget to bring your own tent, food, water and mosquito repellent and make sure your things are covered with plastic bag to avoid getting wet during boat ride. Its best to take boat rides early in the morning to avoid rough sea condition during the afternoon. And make sure to wear life vest. :D Will definitely go back and will recommend to everyone. Worth more than the extreme adventure we encountered on the way to the island. It was November a monsoon season when we visited the place. Although it was raining that day but the rain had stopped when we left Paracale. The water was calm when we start sailing but few minutes later big waves came bumping our boat. The sea was very rough that really high waves came splashing every now and then. Due to the bad weather it took us 2.5 hours to reach the island and it was the longest 2.5 hours I'd ever had. As we approach the island we can see the very long stretch of white sand beach and there's not even 1 person we see. Maybe the bad weather prevented other backpackers, it good for us we are the only group on the beach paradise. We then pitched our tents and prepare for our meal.We really enjoyed swimming and beach bumming on the clear water and fine white sand. The caretaker was friendly and helpful (Sorry I forgot his name). There are open cottages, public CR and water source but don't expect comfortable ones. This place is for backpackers and adventurers. It is suggested to bring your own drinking water, tents and food supplies. In case you ran out of supplies I've heard you can buy some at the community which is a few minutes walk from the beach. Just ask the caretaker of the place. There are two known jump off point Vinzon and Paracale. The sea is calm during summer months but if want to experience somewhat life and death it is during monsoon season.Late review traveled November 2010.

Witnessing this slice of paradise with your own eyes was almost heaven on earth. It was just beautiful with its pristine water, sparkling sand and azure sky. It was by far the best beach I've ever seen in my whole life. With a very affordable trip from Manila, a heavenly experience will be all yours in Calaguas :D

If you're tired of crowded beaches - thsi island is for you. White sand, clear waters, most gorgeous sceneries - it was a welcome relief for us stressed out yuppies. Participated in a backpacking tour organized by CalaguasLocals. Pitched tents by the beach - great outdoor experience. Since it's an island, there is no electricity and no proper bathrooms - which was fine - there was water but you'd have to pay 10pesos per pail. There's also a small convenience store that sells food stuff (mostly canned goods) and alcohhol. The beer were super cheap. 40pesos per bottle? Greaaaat. Spent the whole day just swimming and sunbathing and just chillaxing by the beach.Bring your own food and water. Also, there's absolutely no cellphone reception so dont even bother. Our phones became our cameras and radio Lovely place, can't wait to go back.
