While it is literally a big pastureland with livestock actually grazing on it, Racuh A Payaman is, at the same time, something straight out of the movies. Standing on the vast hillsides, taking in the view of Mt. Iraya and the Pacific, and feeling the fresh, cold wind on our faces was an unforgettable experience.

We biked around the Marlboro Hills and it is really majestic. The place is just so awesome. This is a bit far from basco, and would need endurance.

The inner child in me was unleashed in Marlboro country. The views were amazing! Me and my bestfriend ran to the farthest hill we could reach, and chased the carabaos like kids. One could just sit there for half an hour, gaze at the views, and feel relaxed. Truly a worthwhile visit. The hilly terrain is a pastureland of the Ivatans, and one can have lunch there. But during our tour, we had it as our second to the last stop, being one of the best attraction in South Batan.

Racuh Apayaman, or more commonly called Marlboro Country, has one of the best views of Batanes. You can go here to have lunch (just set it up in advance with your guide or find someone in Basco City who can if you don't have a guide), and while lunch is being set up, go, explore, and have fun just being with nature. To really experience peace and serenity, stay here for 2 or more hours and just BE.Tip: great place to get engaged because of the great photo opportunities. How do I know? Two of my closest friends got engaged here! ❤

Rakuh or fondly known as "Marlboro Country" is known for its amazing rolling hills and views. But what struck me the most is what our tour guide shared with us about these hills: The government allows free use of the land for anyone who wants to take care of cows and carabaos. Just one of the wonderful things that Ivatans are lucky to have! For that, I am truly in awe of Batanes and the Ivatans. The place is beautiful but the generosity, honesty, and purity of the people who both live and govern Batanes are what makes it a thousand times even more beautiful!

What a great day taking a tour of the South of Basco and one of the attractions is Marlboro Hills. It's practical to hire a van on your own and travel on your own pace. Charge your cameras cuz this site is breathtaking.

Although a bit far from Basco, the long trip was well worth it. Being in Marlboro Hills make you feel like you are in the edge of the Philippines a perfect combination of ocean and hill views. Truly one of the most beautiful sites in the Philippines.

Awesome 180-degree views of the mountains and the sea from this place. This was actually a stop over for lunch for us - we just sat and enjoyed the views while waiting for lunch to be prepared. Great jump shot opportunities too!

This is not to miss place to visit in Batanes. The original name is Rakuh A Payaman, only tourists call it Marlboro Hills. The sceneries were really beautiful. Take lots of pictures of course. But I would recommend spending a bit of time to relax here, sit on the grass and just enjoy the views and the fresh Batanes air.I was wondering how the grass is kept so short, it seems like somebody comes here to mow the lawn, hahaha. But it's all natural. I guess the cows and goats do the work :-) Speaking of cows, you can see them everywhere, and that's part of the beauty. No horses though, so I wonder why they call it Marlboro Hills. One thing you can also is sing to the top of your voices while dancing around, just like in Sound of Music, haha. Or for the jump-shot crazed folks, you can do all the jump shots you want here. Oh, make sure you put lots of sunblock before you go. It's all outdoors. We went on a slightly cloudy afternoon, and it was just perfect. Still bright enough for great photos, but not too hot to sit outdoors.
