Maundy Thursday is our time to visit this place. Annually we do it together with the family for an easter bonding. Although we have been here for several times, it still amazed us for the excellent scenery. We never felt tired every climb as the majestic tress, flowers and most of all the greens makes us feel relax.

3-hour drive from Manila. Don't get confused of many towns claiming they are the gateway to Mount Banahaw. If you want to see the best of it, go via Dolores, Quezon; just past San Pablo City. From the town of Dolores, will be another 20 minute drive to Kinabuhayan. This is the foot of Mt. Banahaw. Friendly locals will offer you with some history and information. Must to see is the cave. Buy candles at the stand by the entrance if you don't have flashlight. For $2, you can hire a tour guide to help you explore the cave safely. Attire to go caving should be something youcan get it wet. Part of the cave is river cave. Yes you will get wet. Ask the local vendor for anything and they will find our get it for you. They are very friendly. 2 important info:1. It can rain without warning. Ziplock your wallet and cellphone.2. This is a sacred place. If you don't believe it, at least respect other's belief. No profanity. Leave your bad mouth at home. On the side info, Mt Banahaw is merely an hour away from Villa Escudero, which is another must see place.

Mt. Banahaw is a 3-hour drive from Metro Manila and if you're into nature, the trip is worth it. You can go through Mt. Banahaw by passing through Dolores into Kinabuhayan then through Bangkong Kahoy resort. The air is cooler and the surroundings are greener. Until recently the climb was all dirt roads, but now the road uphill has been mostly paved, albeit still narrow. We went there to search for birds and we were not disappointed. Be ready for an arduous climb, not really for the faint of heart, especially after a downpour which makes the trail slippery. There are a lot of birds to be found there and also lots of flowers and butterflies. There is a store for organic vegetables grown by the community and the restaurant serves simple meals. If you decide to stay overnight, they also offer various rooms from simple to luxurious.

Mt. Banahaw is called the Holy Mountain in the Philippines. This mountain ranges 2,158 above sea level and with difficulty of 5/9. Hiking this mountain was a great experience because of the clean surroundings, along the trail was a compilation of different flora and fauna that attracts me to get more photos.

At Nature Villa, the weather's nice and cool. Just that, the water's cold and they said their heater was broken. Gosh! feel like brain freeze after a chilly shower. The place is clean, food is OK. The trek to Mt. Banahaw (foothill only) was not easy for city folks like us but it was fun. Although it's sunny, our path was cool, so many trees and the water is cold. Each stop at the falls we lighted candles. Didn't go inside judgement cave and under water cave. Too stiff... not that brave. Ohh, no taxi.. tricycle is their taxi. We paid PHP450 for (4 pax) from Nature Villa, one stop at Kinabuyan, back to Nature Villa to pick up our stuffs and into the cave to worship and then to the bus stop. Great outdoor activity to unwind. The best part is while you're in the mountain area, the weather's nice and cool. But when you reach the city proper it's just the same HOT! HOT! Philippines.
