We left Davao City at 4:00am. We arrived in Kidapawan City at around 6:30am. It rained the night before so the road was indeed muddy . Going up the mountain with a road construction going on, muddy and a possible soft shoulder ahead is quite risky. It’s foggy up there and visibility is quite poor. We were still approximately 6 km away from Lake Agco Resort. A good hearted resident there offered to bring us to the resort with his big-wheeled jeep for a very minimal fee, so we decided to leave the car then.We arrived at the resort a little past 7 o’clock in the morning. Lake Agco is amazingly relaxing. The amenities of the resort is just ordinary but it was not the amenities that we wanted to see. It’s nature itself, the hot and cold spring. There are cottages for as low as P200 for a day tour. It’s big enough for 15 persons. The pool is so cold with the spring waters coming from the mountain. There is also another pool nearby with warm water .The place has actually three entrance gates where one has to pay each an entrance fee. Very minimal though like P20.00and 10.00. Each resort offers different features. The first is where the swimming pool with very cold water, and likewise the warm one situated nearby. The second is where it goes down to a Jacuzzi where water is boiling from a steam. One should not go to Lake Agco without trying the Jacuzzi as it is very relaxing. There is a smell of like a rotten egg. They said it’s the sulfur present in the lake. Near the Jacuzzi is a small steam room where one can take a steam bath. There is a warning sign telling people not to stay more than 5 minutes as it is really hot inside. The third is the lake where one can see and enjoy the warm pool with what they call sulfuric mud. People there claims it has some therapeutic effect on the body. Steam coming from the lake is also a must see.I got a key chain and a ball pen as my souvenir from one of the souvenir shops there. Going back next summer is one thing I wanted to do. This time, the road is done and it would be a lot easier going to Lake Agco.

Accommodation is budget type, meaning you do not expect hotel amenities. Suffice to say that if you just want a bed to crash in at a very affordable rate, then you got it here. The pool is so-so but the ambiance is great. A must-try is their jacuzzi type pool with boiling water coming out of Mt. Apo. Very relaxing if you don't mind the sulfuric odor that is common in this side of the mountain. Love to laze in the jacuzzi for Php20 entrance fee. With that amount, you also get to try the sulfuric steam bath nearby.

Mount Apo is surrounded by mountain ranges and it is actually declared as a preserved area. On the way, the view was relaxing and it's great to know that people have kept the lushness of flora around the tallest mountain in our country. There you could see the boiling lake as featured by those who visited the place. It was 50-100 meters away from the resort. People are not allowed to swim there because of the high temperature of the water. Since Mount Apo is a dormant volcano, it is expected that one or two hot springs are present within the vicinity. Lake Agco is one of them. And of course we just stayed on the immersible pools and had fun with the sauna bathrooms. Long I had wished to explore the place again never mind the sulfur! Had fun with the family! Just a tip, It's better to go on week days since there are lesser visitors. So you don't need to rub elbows with strangers. Otherwise you may go on weekends to meet new friends.

Lake Agco in Kidapawan's (Mindanao) weather can be compared to Baguio in Luzon, it's very cold and the road is so foggy that sometimes, it's at its zero visibility. The road is quite rocky but since the weather is cold, it feels so refreshing while you enjoy nature at its best. It's also where you can see not just a plant of but a tree full of poinsettia flowers blooming in rich red color all year round. In Lake Agco, you can either just enjoy the beauty of nature or soak in hot springs. There are two entrances, you can choose either with different rates at P10 and P15 per pax.

Just try and recognize the nature of mt. Apo. You may book ahead of time specially season holidays. there many souvenir shop to have instantly. take a look and have enjoy its beauty. It will surely be happy and take it some adventure together with your family.
