A hidden paradise. This place is amazing!! one of God's best gift to the Phils. A MUST see peeps.. awesome place..awesome time!!
Along the rugged coast of Magpupungco in Pilar, Siargao Island, on the northeastern point of Mindanao, local beach goers often flock to a rocky section that looks like a giant boulder with a face attached precariously to its base by a narrow neck. Around this rock face are even more curious attractions: cool pools, ranging from two- to seven-feet deep, punctuate an otherwise shallow coral bed with often knife-sharp ridges. When going to this place, you should consult first the locals with the schedule of the low-tide. Since this lagoon can only be accessible during low-tides.
The best place where you can swim in the island, it's a bit far from General Luna. You have to pay for an entrance fee of Php50.
We hired some bikes and did a road trip from Cloud 9, it took us about 40mins to ride there and was well worth the effort. The view was spectacular and after being cooped up for 4 days during the typhoon it was great to get out on a sunny day. There is a 50p entry fee, and there is a small store and restaurant to buy food and drinks. The beach is beautiful and we walked over the tidal pools during low tide, is was spectacular. Definately a must see, the ride out was great as well, travelling through all the tiny villages and seeing all the loca kids, a must do while in Siargao!!
if you want to go for swimming, see to it that it's high tide. But if you want to see why the place is called "Magpupungko" (pungko means "sitting down"), then go when it's low tide. Take a walk on your right when you're facing the beach and then lo and behold! See it for yourself!
Quite a long drive but weel worth it. High tide is better than low tide, but anytime is fine. Deep water natural pools with beautiful clear water and overhanging rocks to jump off. Fun!
We came here because it sounded like such a nice place. The sea came crashing in from the ocean, it was extremely hot. in 2007 they didn't charge to enter now we had to pay about 20 peso per person.i warned Yvonne not to remain in the sun too long so she wouldn't get too burnt.we did get burnt but we enjoyed ourselves
Very nice in picture and while I was watching in Youtube before going to the place. Quite disappointing because very uneven rock edges and dangerous for the kids. And while,it's nice for photoshoot, we didn't enjoyed it. Went to the beach instead!
Before going to the place, you need to ask or check if its "low tide". You cannot see the natural pool if its high tide. You will be amazed by the pool and I have never seen anything like it before.
This beach is indeed turning into a heavenly beautiful natural pool in one cycle everyday during low tide only. At first you'll stroll along the ordinary white beach and you may say what's heavenly on this place? Then WOW! You'll be surprised with an absolutely breathtaking view of the crystal clear -- no its emerald clear lagoon to be exact. The locals called it a natural pool during high tide only. You swim in it and you will experience something magical. Specially when you dive deep and see the wonders of its corals, marine plants and various sea creatures.
We rode a habal-habal from General Luna to Pilar. Some of the roads are under construction and some are muddy. But, the trip was so worth it.Entrance fee to Magpupungko beach is Php50/person. You can bring food and rent some tables and chairs, just find somewhere shady. There is a store where you can also buy some snacks and drinks. When I first see the tidal pool, I was so amazed! Its like a natural infinity pool, the water is crystal clear and so inviting. If I wasn't holding my camera I would've jumped into the water that instant. This is one of the places in Siargao that will keep me coming back.
Went here with my family sometime in May last year.I was told by the manager of the hotel I stayed in that the rock pools were one of the biggest attraction within Siargao.Prestine, clear waters of the Pacific - never seen clear waters like this; Bali and Thailand doesn't even come close. :)
make sure that you askt he locals if it's low tide so that you will see the rock formatins and swimming in the clear swimming hole.
I was with my wife Beverly and two kids (Bikay &Bikoy) and my school batchmate Rowena Vasquez and her two kids too (Kobe & Adriane) during 2014 Holy Week. . . We hopped on board a rented motorcycle. A tiring and rewarding 40 kilometer road trip going to this amazing nature bounty. . .it's worth visiting. . . .
Great destination for a daytrip from GL on a motorbike. Excellent saltwater swimming hole at low tide
