This is the first time I've seen a beach of this kind in all of my travels... For lack of material time this is the only natural attraction I went to in Surigao del Norte. I was not able to go to Siargao and Dinagat Island nor to the other towns of the province nevertheless, I enjoyed spending most of my time at the baywalk, enjoying the cool and fresh breeze from the sea. My biggest disappointment going to this province coming from Tandag City is seeing and witnessing the devastation brought about by mining activities in Cantilan and the other succeeding towns of Surigao del Sur going to Surigao del Norte and the towns in Surigao del Norte just following the boundary of the 2 provinces... such a pity and dismay on what these people (greedy businessmen, corrupt politicians, non caring locals) are doing to ruin the environment and the future of the next generation...The rust colored farmlands and water flowing in the streams going to the sea.... Traveling also via this route is not pleasant due to the rust colored dust that will cling to your clothing and probably also harmful to your bodly's respiratory system... You can see beautiful islands along the way but the nearby sea to the mainland is not a pleasant site and lessens the tourism potential of the place...The tourism officer of the city was helpful giving me instructions on how to go to this beach.. Riding a tricycle going at the designated waiting place, You can travel on a special trip or wait for the tricycle to ride the full capacity of passengers. If I am not mistaken, the fare was P20 then..Travel time is not that long... more or less 20 mins.I enjoyed the view going there and moreso at the site.. perhaps it was more beautiful a long time ago. I went there just to take pictures and not to take a bath as my time is limited and I am not checked in in one of the lodging house or resort there. I climbed a stairway leading to the other side of the beach..the view at the top is nice and awesome. Down the beach there were children taking a bath in one portion of the beach.. Did some solo picture taking for a while and then traversed the same path on the way back... Met a new friend, a local from that place. Took some pictures at the topmost portion... I will return to this place again some other day and stay in the resort nearby and enjoy more the beauty of the place, also swim in the sea and have a taste of the food there.
This is a very unique place in which the beach is filled up with rocks and pebbles of all sizes. Very calm and clear water. Great sunset view.
Sooner to visit here...See u very soon~~~Mabua beachSURIGAO CITyMama.papaSister's And my oneYounger Brother Wait me~~~~ we meet very very soon..Really I'm so excited.
Visited Jan 15, 2015. The beach is 30 minutes from Surigao City proper by public transport-tricycle, Philippine version of the Thai tuktuk. Fare is only P/20 per person. It is a long beach with pebbles only, not a grain of sand. It is only the second all pebbles beach I have been to. I've been to countless of beaches being a beach person. At one end is a huge rock where one can jump to the sea.You can see a lot of waves in the water but were not that strong upon reaching the shore. The whole beach is dotted by open cottages with tables.Today the beach was practically deserted. There is a hotel at the end with the rock. The hotel has a good restaurant. Our lunch was really value for money. The hotel has a very small but good museum. It is worth the P/25 entrance fee.The beach is really worth a visit. The way to the beach is rustic scenic Philippine country scene.
The natural environment has been ruined by the greed of resort owners putting up fences , building clubhouses and too many beach huts, plus concrete paths..the overall effect is a mess. They don't even bother to clear up the garbage.A new concrete road has been built and a large hotel is being planned in the area. The original residents , fisherfolk have been moved on (no doubt for a pittance) and the quaint village at the beginning of the beach has been ruined. Progress....you can keep it .I will never go there again
The place is unique in comparison to other beaches. Pebbles! Enjoy its beauty for a while..Aside from picture-taking, there is not much anything to do in Mabua Pebble Beach. You can ride a tricycle going here. There is a terminal in Surigao City, close to the port.
This beach is about 20 min drive away from the city, very convenient for afternoon picnics or even short visits to capture the beauty of the sunset! It used to have varied sizes of pebbles but because most sands were used by the locals for building houses, only bigger pebbles are left. It's hard to walk, better use beach shoes, this makes the beach unique in a way.A high cement steps through the mountain, through the efforts of Rotary Club of Surigao City connects the next town. Fresh fish and seafoods can be bought from the fishermen just coming home after a day's work, if one is lucky. There is a restaurant /inn at the end of the beach in case you want to stay for the night.
I visited Mabua Pebble Beach last September 2014 during my solo travel to Surigao City and Siargao Island. It was just a quick stop because I have to catch the afternoon ferry trip to Siargao. I could have just stayed within the city but I was just curious about the beach as it's unlike most Philippine beaches with fine, powdery sands. Instead, Mabua's shoreline is covered with smooth stones, mostly the size of a fist. The place was undeniably stunning!Tip: You can choose to stay for a night or simply have lunch in Mt. Bagarabon Hotel and Restaurant. They serve delicious Filipino food at a reasonable price.Cheers,Josefdiscoverphilippines.org
I recently got to visit Mabua Beach, I have not been there for many years already and in fact I now regret that I was not prepared and didn't have time to take a dip.I was with my Dad and upon arrival at the beach, which by the way is shared by Barangay Ipil and Barangay Mabua, he took to his long time hobby of looking for interesting stones in Mabua. As mentioned, it was been years since I visited, and I was surprised that there were less rocks and pebbles now than before. When last I swam in Mabua, the stones were so numerous that you can't see any sand or finer pebbles in between the big rocks and stones. I also had to swim 30 feet away from the beach at low tide to even see sand under water, they used to all be rocks. Mabua beach is still nice though, and even though I visited on a Friday afternoon, there were a lot of beach goers. Some are just picnicking on areas where there are Bermuda grass growing. There are of course new resorts now, like the Fiesta Resort, which even has their own swimming pool.
Lovely beach area with a good resort to use and eat at. The local filipinos use this beach a lot at weekend which is really nice as they are the friendliest peoples you are ever likely to meet. It is a bit pebbly but measured against the clear water and sunset who cares.
The water is calm, clear, and clean. Ask the tiny inhabitants (the snails on the beach) who are constant witnesses. You can rent a beach or a floating cottage if you want to stay longer. Also, wait for the sunset and see something magical.
It's so beautiful tourist attraction ! it's the first time i've seen a long distance pebble beach with a very beautiful sunset...so clean & clear water, best for children & adults..
Mabua Pebble Beach is a very nice beach. It has some sandy beaches but mostly it is full of pebbles and rocks. Expect trash on the beach especially after Sundays(the most popular day to picnic at the beach). I rated very good because it is the best beach in Surigao City. It has the best sunsets. If you like beaches then it is worth coming to this beach.
Nothing extra ordinary. A beach with long stretch of pebbles that's hurting the sole of my bare foot plus cottages dotted along the beach. The water though was clean and cool plus a beautiful sunset to behold. There is a viewing hill on the way to Mabua where you can enjoy the panoramic view of Surigao City. A 30 peso habal-habal ride going to Mabua from downtown Surigao will do but better yet to arrange with the driver for a ride back to the city.
Truly a sight to see. When we went, the waves didn't permit safe swimming unless you were truly adventurous. We still enjoyed staying in the cottage by the sea. I would go there in the Summer months to truly enjoy this majestic beach.
