Compared to other off site beaches in Cuba, Coco Beach was pretty average. There is a bar on the beach with a fully stocked bar, which includes $1 bottles of Cristal. Ice cream and snacks are also available. We had lunch in a local home on Coco Beach which was set up the day before. $5 horse and buggy from the resort.

Excellent lobster dinners. We have gone here now 8 times. Great beach walk. Hostess Anita gets you up dancing and have a lot of fun. Great fire, drinking coconuts and dancing to music on beach.

Cuba is known for its beaches and this one did not disappoint! We loved the water, it was crystal clear and perfect for us amateur snorkelers. My three kids (6,7,9) loved it! The beach did have some garbage on it but no seaweed.

A real paradise! To mix relax , music, seafood a beautiful beach and beautiful people! Snorkeling and diving with the sharks are the key to keep Coco beach a magic place

A little paradise with white sand and palm trees.... This place is very close to The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos islands. Loved it !

Just returned from a week at Club Amigo Mayanabo in Santa Lucia Cuba. While there, we took a 20 min horse ride to Coco Beach ($20 return). Wow! What a place! This beach is located in a small inlet west of the Santa Lucia hotel strip, and is ten times the sea weed ridden beach back at the hotels. Beautiful white sandy beach, and NO SEA WEED!!!! Many locals come to party here, and now we know why!$1 gets you a beach lounger, ans they sell cold drinks. However, they offer a spectacular deal.....for $40 you can rent for the day one of the beach day beds, and it includes 24 cans of beer, 1 bottle of rum, and 4 cans of pop. We had 7 people in our group, so we rented 2 beds and never thought we'd get through 48 beers and 2 bottle of rum! Well, with the help of a few locals, we had ourselves an incredible day of fun and sun! There is a restaurant that offers lots of food options right there at the beach, and of course you can always hit up one of the local casa's for a fresh lobster lunch ($10-$12 pp). This beach is well worth the trip!

Last year (2013) we hired a horse carried and went to the village of La Boca, about 9 km from the hotel. It was so hot that we did not spend too much time on the beach; instead, we kept walking along the old coral shore, in front of the houses belonging to the village of La Boca, whose residents were very nice and often invited us to their homes. So, we were looking forward to visiting this village again this year.We hopped into a horse carriage and trotted to La Boca. Many Cubans kept telling us that Russians had purchased land in La Boca and were planning to build two luxury hotels and eventually relocate La Boca’s residents. I hope the hotels will be nicer than the notoriously ugly hotels built the by Soviets in the 1970s and 1980s (think the Mayanabo, Havana’s Tropicoco Hotel or the ‘barracks’ in the Club Amigo Guardalavaca) and that local residents will be properly compensated. We asked some of them about this story, but whereas they were aware of the new Russian plans, they did not know if and when they might be relocated. Granted, it is a poor village, but I believe that their way of life is relatively peaceful and stress-free; besides, the prime ocean-view property where their houses are located must be worth a small fortune!First, we went to a restaurant in one of the houses, where I had cold beer; later we leisurely strolled along the old coral beach, strewn with shells and bones. In 2013 I had taken a lot of photographs and brought them with me (I wanted to mail them, but was told there was no mail delivery to La Boca!). It turned out that most of those people were not in the village — the girl with an albino puppy was attending school in Nuevitas where she stayed for the whole week (but at least I had a chance to play with the dog!), another gentleman had gone to Miami. So, I left the photos with their relatives & friends and they were thrilled with them!We met an older man who set up a workshop in front of his house and was making barbed fishing hooks, using a piece of metal wire. There were a few casas particulares and we wanted to take a look inside one of them, but it was closed. One lady was selling various souvenirs; I bought a nice rosary and Catherine an original crab claw necklace. Soon, our carriage driver showed up and we went back to the hotel.

If you like fishing, bring your gear to Coco Beach, and try your luck at the rock point, approx. 300 ft after the last restaurant. There are big fish in the canal down the road.

Coco Beach has a beautiful beach, far superior than the beach in front of the resorts in Santa Lucia. No seaweed. The town is a small fishing village where the people are warm and friendly. It's a place to meet and hang out with locals.

One of the highlights of our trip was our two visits to Coco Beach and to be able to witness the flight of the flamingos on the way there was a definite bonus. The trip is approx 8 km on a fairly rough road and you can go by car, taxi or horse and carriage. If you do go by car, be aware since there is a very soft and deep section of the road where cars do tend to sink and get stuck. My partner actually helped lift out two cars on our second visit. The locals do appreciate your help and he was offered a glass of rum for his efforts :) But the destination is worth the trip. The beach is beautiful – the waters are very calm and ideal for swimming and the view to the fishing village of La Boca is lovely. There is a bar on the beach called Bucanero where we parked ourselves for the day. Beach chairs are available for 1 cuc although you can easily spend your time on the sand if you choose. No loud speakers blaring on the beach, no bugs and absolutely no pressure to purchase refreshments. Beer is available for 1 cuc ( cans) and slightly more for bottled beer. You can also buy pop, large 2 litre bottles are 1.65 or have your traditional Cuban drinks. We thought the prices were extremely good. Toasted ham and cheese sandwiches are also available if you feel like a snack. The Bucanero is very clean with friendly service. The bathrooms, located across the road, are clean although toilet paper is lacking and the sink water may or may not be on, so hand sanitizer is recommended. You can also opt to have lunch with a family in La Boca if you have room for a large meal. There is always a choice of lobster, fish, chicken, etc. We gave a ride to two ladies in our carriage who were returning to La Boca from grocery shopping “in town”. One was seventy years old and carrying all her groceries back to her house. She was so grateful for the lift that she invited us to her casa for coffee. Whilst in La Boca we also encountered the fruit and vegetable truck driving down the main road with a seller shouting out bananas, yucca, squash. Service at your doorstep – how convenient is that. Most of the hotel guests that we met were sorry that they hadn’t discovered Playa Coco earlier so that they could have spent more time there. I think that says it all.

We took a leisurely trip to Coco Beach by horse and buggy which we booked with one of the handsome cowboys from “Horse Ridings Tours”. They walk up and down the beach and you can’t miss them. For 15 CUC’s each it included the horse and buggy ride there and back……about 8 kms each way and lunch of lobster, shrimps and fish at a Paladar in La Boca village. If you have binoculars bring them along as he will stop off on the way to show you the flamingos but they are quite a distance away and look like pink spots. Also for taking pictures one of those cameras with lenses would be excellent. I just used my zoom and hoped for the best.We went by La Boca village towards Coco Beach and stopped under a coconut tree by the Bucanero Restaurant. Went into the restaurant and enjoyed a Bucanero cerveza and mojito before we went and grabbed a spot on the beach. For 1 CUC each the fellow went and got us our lounge chairs. Unfortunately, when we tried to go into the water the lifeguard warned us that there were jellyfish and not to go in. They were tiny tiny ones……they looked like tiny leaves floating in the water so people came and people left as they had hoped to go in the water and some even were ready to do some snorkeling. But we met some nice people who too were going to eat in a Paladar…..so together we enjoyed the wonderful singing of the singing band on the beach. We headed out with our driver for 1:00 p.m. to our Paladar in La Boca where we enjoyed our delicious lunch. After lunch the horse and buggy was waiting to take us back to Coco Beach but we decided to walk back. We walked onto the beach from the last house where we found the sand littered with broken plates, etc…..so had to be careful where we walked. It looked like they just threw their garbage out into the sand……but cleared up as we came closer to the main part of the beach. When we got back to our spot in front of Restaurante Bucanero our chairs had been removed but when the fellow seen us come back he ran and got our chairs for us. Well the water had cleared up and the jellyfish were gone…….the water was crystal clear and we could see right down to our toes. We felt like we were in Paradise. So until 4 p.m. we enjoyed the beach with other tourists who showed up in the afternoon. On the way back our pinto kept up with the party catamarans coming back from their tours. It was such a beautiful view. And yes the next time we are in Playa Santa Lucia we will be going back to Coco Beach for sure.

We went to Coco Beach for lobster dinner and had a blast! I do not eat lobster but we had chicken and I swear they brought us half the bird. The sunset was awesome and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the dance lessons. A great experience.
