We were approached by a few students who took us around the university and showed us all of the historically important spots. They also took us to the residence where Fidel lived, and showed us his bedroom! We bought them a drink as a thank you, after our visit we realized they they took us on the tour so they could ask us for donations after. We were under the impression that they were just taking us on a quick little tour. We had more students approach is the next day trying to do the same thing only in china town. Just be aware that English speaking students who try to whisk you away on a tour may have ulterior motives.

I stopped at the hotel to visit with the law students. They were eager to share their experiences and knowledge on the comparisons of the judicial system between the US and Cuba. The students were polite and respectful :)

If you visit here, try the library. You can walk in and look around. It is something to behold. A step back into the 1940's 50's.

What a grand campus this must have been. Beautiful buildings are everywhere and the enormous stairs that lead to the entrance immediately show the prestige and pride the students that attend this university must feel. We strolled around the gardens and no one asked us what we were doing there, no gates, no security guards.

The University Of Havana is a world class institution and on par with the great places of learning around the world. We have historical campuses in North America with plenty of significance and while this is no different in Cuba, the University Of Havana is something different - in a class of its own.No expense was spared to build these great buildings and this is evident before even visiting the campus. The wide steps made of concrete are something to see in itself. The buildings themselves are vast and simply spectacular. There is history in the air. Everywhere.Mere words cannot do it justice. It must be experienced firsthand.

School was not in session and the grand steps I wanted to get a great photograph. I had driven by the school on the double decker tour bus and on another day was near so came by to take a pic. They had a rope up at the bottom of the steps and the guards insisted no one go beyond that point. I walked up the steps part way they ran out and yelled at me,; I took my poor pic, wasn't close enough to statue, came back down, smiled and walked away. Only benefit was it was good exercise with such a long walk back into old Havana.

Visiting the University was one of the highlights of a recent trip to Havana. The buildings and the atmosphere reeks of history. Observing the students going about their business made me reflect on how universal the attitudes and activities of young people appear. Very well worth seeing for a different perspective on Cuba.

University of havana is a must to see when you are visiting Cuba. Besides being a place full of history, it has an amazing architecture.

Easy access from the Cathedral Plaza, with attractive interior to explore on a self-guided visit. On my last visit, we attended the Service on Sunday, which was an amazing experience! This time, we were able to take the time to view the Cathedral windows, statues and other items of interest.

Beautifull great building, neoclassic style, great restoration. Love it. Free entrance, just go up stairs and you're on your own

Cubans areroud of their university which has a grand entrance that is typical of older universities. The rest of the place looks like it has had better years.

I highly recommend you to visit the university, there is a huge stairs at the north entrance of the universtiy which you can sit, relax and watch the city from above. If you have an interest of the old buildings, you can enter and the see the daily life of young students.

It's a very historical building in Habana and if you can, spend some time there when visiting the area. Buildings are classic and the gardens are also nice.

The best part was talking to the students. Everyone was very friendly and eager to share ideas. If you have special interest e.g., law, be sure to visit that school. You will be welcome.
