We were staying at the hotel so did the tour as part of our stay.Esera, our guide, was delightful and gave us lots of interesting and fun facts. This is not some boring history tour, it's a fun stroll through the Plantation listening to the guides stories and tasting the fruits as you go. We were joined by the hotels two dogs who were fabulous, such characters and added to the enjoyment. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone staying on Bequia. It's a great value for money few hours of fun.
We booked a tour online of the Firefly Plantation, and we were very impressed with the entire plantation and enjoyed learning about the fruits grown and produced here.We were able to taste fresh almonds (a treat for me, as I love almonds!), which were soft and very tasty - not like the hard, dried versions I am used to.Next was a guava, which was lovely to try fresh, as we love the Guava jam and fruit preserves that many locals make here. Then a sample of sugar cane, and our guide even pressed some of the cane and we were able to taste the fresh juice. It was so sweet and good.We each received a coconut for the coconut water to drink, which was very refreshing, as it was a hot day. Then a lovely brown shelled coconut with the crunchy dried coconut inside.Another fruit was the orange, which was quite sweet as well, although it was still green. They also have a garden where they grow all of their own herbs, and we saw the spinach plant which grows like a vine here. Interesting!Something very amusing was the resident pig that plows the land. Very cute! The tour lasted about 45 minutes, and costs only 10 EC per person. Very well worth it.The restaurant looked lovely, and if we would have had more time, we would have enjoyed eating here. I'd highly recommend visiting the plantation and taking the tour if you are curious about all of the local fruit and veggies grown here. They also have bee hives for local honey.
Firefly was an amazing experience. Let me share that we don't mind spending good money on a nice place for our holiday, but I usually find I am disappointed because the accommodation, based on what we paid ends up being below our expectations….not here! I find the room over delivers, they should be charging more! There is a ton of personalized service, which we didn't even use, but it is available; from turn down service, to customized picnics and a complimentary cell phone for convenience. The staff is amazing and I also love the hotel dogs, Jude and Anna; very unobtrusive, but little sweethearts. I know better than to invite them into my room, but I wanted to! The restaurant is also fantastic, with lovely coconut water and local tea for breakfast and a new menu each night for dinner. If you come to Bequia, this is your only choice for accommodation!
Thanks Mark! We are so glad you enjoyed the Roti.Thank you for visiting the Firefly.
Beautiful Plantation House with a few hotel rooms and a great bar/restaurant area. The bar staff was very welcoming and genuinly friendly and accommodating. We got lovely Happy Hour cocktails, blended with real fruit in the mixer. This is something we did not find often on the island as the normal rum punch is from normal juice out of a package. This was a surprise really and most other cocktails are just overly sweet. At Firefly it is a definite step up in quality and the wonderful tropical fruit gets mixed in the blender with good rum, very good. The view is amazing and the plantation style of the bar extremely cozy and pretty.
Our party of 9 spent our final night on Bequia (following our wedding) at the Firefly Plantation restaurant. The location is beautiful. The staff were very friendly, attentive (but not intrusive) and joined in our family fun (as it is the start of the season, we were the only guests that evening). The restaurant menu is not very large, yet catered for all of our guests (with fish, chicken and vegetarian options available) - and the food was cooked as ordered (and to perfection). My 2 daughters (and the rest of the family) enjoyed playing a board game "shut the box" whilst we were waiting for food.......a great evening and I would look to return. next time we are on Bequia
Firefly has a beautiful atmosphere overlooking their plantation. We came for dinner and breakfast, both meals were excellent. Dinner was very romantic and the service impeccable! For breakfast we had a traditional Caribbean breakfast and a delicious omelet.
We visited the orchard during our honeymoon and it was a real treat. After touring and tasting local fruits off the tree, sit back and relax over a great meal! Staff and tour guide were knowledgable and friendly! Could have stayed for hours and ate all their sugar cane!!
Food is very good and it has a great bar. Had been to another Firefly location in Mustique and loved that too. Never stayed overnight but it looks great, with a big inviting pool.
Firefly Planation was a fantastic outing for me and my adult children. It brought me back to my childhood in the West Indies and gave me a chance to share the tastes of the tropics with my children. Keith, the tour guide, was great and provided us with coconuts, sugar cane and guavas, the fruit that was currently in season. He was knowledgable, kind and obviously proud of the variety of fruit-bearing plants preserved on the plantation. Similar to another reviewer, this was the best $10EC I spent. In addition, my husband had ordered some lunch for "take away". Wow! My children, and husband, all agreed that Firefly makes the best roti on the island - this after having already tried roti at three other establishments. All in all Firefly was a great place to visit. We called before going to make sure tours were still on. But you can also stop by, take the tour and have lunch, or order take away and enjoy it on one of the nearby beaches.
We took a tour of the plantation before lunch where we were able to taste in-season fruits straight from the tree, including coconut water and bamboo juice. Our guide was very informative and answered all of my farmer husband's questions. Lunch was excellent. I had the roti (very mild) which was absolutely delicious. My husband and friends also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The restaurant was beautifully decorated in a West Indies style and had a stunning view of the ocean through the palm trees. Would definitely eat here again.
to come here for a lunch is a treat -first a real always frech fruit juice in the nice sofas and chairs overlooking the spring beach and the old plantation - maby playing a game of tic tac toe than a great lunch with inspiring temting side orders like their special mangochutney to the westindian hamburger : ROTI -and just spendig a great time in the calm is recomended
Great site, good service, to over priced for quality of food. Drinks are overpriced , but good . Poo clean and relaxing , while there visit the plantation which you will find interesting.
The setting is tropical elegance. The food is locally grown, fresh caught and excellently prepared. The presentation is flawless. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Pricy, but worth it.
I just want to say I love your review, thank you so much. It made me laugh, the lovey way you describe Keith and the pig (Percy is his name by the way) coming out of the bananas. You sum it all up perfectly!I am so glad you enjoyed it, please do come back.
