excellent setting, touristy, but not crowded. There are two restaurants, one upmarked, the other one simple

Loved that it was a short walk from Chalet Tropical Village, and the water was gorgeous and clear. You can rent a couple of chaise lounges and an umbrella for $6 or $7 per day.

Some snorkeling available further out by reef but not much to see else wise, but is a nice beach to lay on and to swim in the azure waters. Very safe, no rip tides.

We visited La Playita several times during our two week stay. It was the perfect beach to take our young son to as the waves weren't terribly strong there. There were always people there, but even on the weekends i never felt as though it were over crowded. You can rent beach chairs and order drinks. There is a bathroom at the restaurant that can be used. The restaurant, however, didn't have most of what was listed on the menu, and the service there was incredibly slow - even by Dominican standards. There's a little hut further down the beach with tables that serves fantastic food, so head there if you get hungry. We always felt very safe and comfortable there. And the view is outstanding.

As soon as you park, someone accosts you and wants you to go to their store and buy something or eat something. Then you go to the beach, and it's packed with people. There are people on chairs you can rent, people on the sand, people on blankets, people playing loud music, etc. the beach is pretty but it's too crowded.

We visited Ricon and Frontera and liked Playita best. It was the cleanest, safest, and least crowded, and it is within walking distance of the restaurants that line the main street of Las Galeras. This beach also seemed to have the largest shallow areas of the water; you could walk out for quite a distance before it got too deep.

Great little beach. 200 pesos gets you beach chairs and a table. No pressure beyond that. Beware of the restaurant. Half the menu unavailable, service lacking...to say the least. Eat at the local fire-pit.

We visited La Playita three times because we were staying in Las Galeras and it is definitely better that the main beach of Las Galeras. Actually we went there firstly to have a lunch because our host Sarah recommended Isabela's place for eating typical Dominican food. We finished eating there three times from our 6-days stay - it was really delicious if you try not to think of Isabela's rude behavior. The beach offers kayaking options (by which you can visit some of the neighboring beaches) or you can enjoy snorkeling (you can find interesting shells and fishes there; my friend also saw a strange snake, so you should be careful). The sunbeds were 80 pesos, the coconut was 50 pesos. The kayak for 2 we negotiated for 350-400 pesos per hour. As a conclusion- if you are nearby you should definitely visit this beach.

If you are looking for a spot to lounge around on the beach, it's worth the trek out here from town. You can get here by motorcycle taxi (a couple of minutes), or you can walk (30 min). If you decide to walk there is a short cut through the woods that is much quicker than walking on the road. There's a restaurant out there, and rentals for things like kayaks, which make it a nice day trip from Las Galeras.

Nice clean beach with beautiful blue waters. You have to rent chairs. There is a restaurant there and the grilled chicken was pretty good. Staff is friendly. I'll go again.

La Playita's waters are delightful. You can float all day long! The food was excellent. Lobster was done to perfection. You can even shop there if you like. Saw a most incredible spider so be careful where you hang your hat!!

From Las Galeras, this is my preferred beach. I'm not the type to rent a beach chair, and the chairs do take up a lot of space on this beach, but there's room to share. The water here is swimmable and really nice. We tried snorkelling a bit but didn't see anything. For the beach bum that I am it was sufficient and I'm sorry I didn't have more time to will away there.

We were so bummed we didn't discover Playita before our last day...we would have definitely gone more than once! It's much smaller than Rincon but the water is ridiculously calm and was just perfect for our two young daughters. I'd recommend getting there in the morning as it definitely filled up around lunchtime and the afternoon was jam packed. While there, make sure you eat lunch at IL Pirata which is just a few hundred meters walk from the beach.

We went to this beach twice - the first was the Saturday before Easter Sunday - it seemed the entire population of DR was there, tarps everywhere, loud music, many drunk! (although not unruly). It was so crowded it wasn't a good experience. I went back with my daughters the Monday after Easter for our horseback riding excursion and it was EMPTY, peaceful, beautiful, and amazing!
