The restaurant was recommended by the concierge at my hotel. I was looking to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to good music and eating good local food. Johnno's does not disappoint.
Great food selection & Drinks choice. Fantastic music on Sunday afternoon. Tremendous service from a friendly team. Most enjoyable way to "pass a day in paradise".LJ
After a day at Meads beach on our way back to our ship we stopped here for a drink and to use the internet. Cant beat the view, great drinks and free internet! Also a great place to catch a taxi to travel around the island.
If you want to hear great music on a Sunday in Anguilla, this is the place to be. The location is nothing less than gorgeous, yet bustling with activity, and the vibe never disappoints. Johnno's offers friendly service and good food. My only recommendation is they give their menu a facelift, as it really hasn't changed much in years. Sandy Ground is becoming the place to be, and with all the new competition, they might want to consider fresh, updated features to keep up with the times. That being said, it's still a great place to visit, especially on a Sunday!
If you're driving around using the standard Anguilla map for tourists, you'll never know about Johno's! We stumbled upon it for an afternoon rum punch and it was great. Too bad we missed the music - it sounds like it would have been fun. Alas, we had to return the rental car.
This review is for Johnnos Beach Bar in Sandy Ground - it is one beach bar we never miss!No Sunday would be complete without at trip to Johnnos. On this day, the esteemed Sprocka was playing and Keira was singing - and another gal was doing a tambourine dance, she was really good too - it was so great to see them play, Johnnos too was packed,. We were sitting there and all of a sudden "Boss" walks by, he said hi, then went and sat in the corner of the bar, he was holding court with a bunch of boat drivers , next thing, Sprocka is acknowledging him and telling everyone he is a legend. Then, after a while, Sprocka starts urging him to get up, and then urging us to get him up, of course the crowd went wild and we all started clapping and whistling and chanting “We want Boss”, well finally, he got up and what a show they put on … AMAZING!! That was a day I will never forget, the highlight of our trip!
Johnno's Beach Bar, located at Sandy Ground, had a good reputation and is known for live jazz music on the weekends at lunchtime. While we almost drove past it, we were thankful that we found it. The location is right on the beach, just past the boat dock on Sandy Ground. We ordered a round of rum punches - which were strong, refreshing and delicious - and lunch. During lunch, a live jazz band played, and locals and tourists streamed in and enjoyed drinks, snacks, meals and the music. We definitely recommend this place.
We had lunch there and we weren't all that impressed. We didn't get all that great of a vibe from this restaurant. We stayed in Sandy Ground for 10 days and we didn't see Johnno's busy all that much.
Jazz on Sunday afternoon at Johnno's on Sandy Ground. Live professional music, up close and personal, great singer. It can't be beat and we wouldn' t miss it. With every trip to Anguilla, we stop at Johnno's.
Stopped at Johnno's for lunch on a bright sunny day. Sat out on the patio in the sun, which was great since you can watch all boats in Road Bay (Sandy Ground). We had drinks, a burger and a chicken and rib combo. The burger was good and the ribs and chicken just okay as it seems they were reheated from the night before. Service very friendly. Ask for the special hot sauce. Its a vinegar based sauce thats extremely hot. Would give it a try for dinner as I'm sure the food would be hot.FYI - This is right in the middle of Sandy Ground, not Prickly Pear Island which is miles off of the coast.
This restaurant has been around for over 20 years and it has survived good times and bad times. Still a great place for fresh fish or lobster smack on the beach. Fairly priced for Anguilla standards. So if you are in Anguilla make sure you make if stop!
Nice setting on Sandy Ground. Open air restaurant that gets very busy in the evenings. Tables are under cover. No shoes required. Service was good. Not the cleanest restaurant, but it is open air and ocean front.Ate at Johnnos one time and had the following:Ate a barbecue grilled chicken breast, salad, slaw, and rice and peas, and drank water and a Corona . The chicken was very tender and done well.Price $30.00Note that there is a 15% fee added on restaurant bills.
We had lunch here one day when we rode our bikes to Sandy Ground from the Viceroy (unless you are an avid bike rider, I do not recommend this - we were dying). We had planned to take the boat to Sandy Island for a grilled lobster lunch, but discovered that they close at 3 and we were too late. The only place open was Johnno's and we were starving! The menu is very basic - I had a hot dog and my husband had a fish sandwich. The food was fine and the view on the harbor is spectacular, but there are definitely better places to eat on the island.
We stopped here for lunch. Two adults and a child. The first music act was a bit loud for us (but remember we are traveling with a childe, so that might just be our perspective), but appeared to be widely enjoyed by the other patrons. As we were finishing lunch, a second act, a trio performed including Yesterday by the Beatles. We really enjoyed this act a lot and the vibe was great. My husband didn't love his roast chicken platter, but my daughter and I enjoyed our fish sandwhiches which we added some flavor to by including the delicious coleslaw and lime in the sandwich. This is a great spot for drinks and entertainment. The ribs another table ordered smelled wonderful.
We came during the Jazz festival, so the Sunday jazz brunch at Johnno's was even more hopping than usual. We waited quite a long time for our food, but that was expected since the place was so full. Glad to say that the food was so worth the wait, it was the best grilled lobster & red snapper I've had on the island. The atmosphere was very laid back and fun - a definite must when you'r e in Anguilla!!
