We were greeted by a very nice man who showed to some seats with umbrellas under Palm tree with blue sea we were looked after like gold he even got us a meal from his mum they live very use the beach the food wS first class and reasonably priced . They had a storm two weeks ago and this has brought a lot of coral and stone on the beachIf you go look out for the man with tattoo on his head very polite and helpfull
We went here with another couple from our ship. The cab was great and arranged someone to get chairs (for a charge of $20 for 2) in a shaded area and a pickup time to return to the cruise ship. There are people that will deliver buckets of beer or food too. The beach was very good and not too crowded.
great for walking and chilling. Hotels and restaurants dotted about so plenty of food. Great watersports available or just take in the rays ....
We just stayed for a few hours from a cruise. After doing some research we decided on Paynes. We sat on the beach, snorkeled then walked around. We were both very impressed with the location and beach.
A generally quieter beach than most which has the advantage of being on the Caribbean side of Barbados. It is safe to swim but need to be aware of jet skis and if snorkeling to see the turtles you need to avoid the catamarans that frequent the bay.
A lovely beach, not too busy. One of the best west coast beaches.Could do with a couple more beach bars for drinks and food.
The perfect beach on the west coast. Not heavily populated beautiful views and perfect sea tide and wide sands for family. We went with our 7mth baby and struggled along the west coast to find a calm and wide but shady beach. Paynes bay was IT. Good times.
Such fun to swim out to the sailboats just off shore and see all the wild Hawk's Bill tortoises in the crystal clear waters. It is almost a surreal experience seeing these gentle creatures in their native habitat.
Small and perfectly formed - gently sloping and we had a fabulous boat trip down the coast on a small catamaran - really quite thrilling!
Probably even better than that at Sandy Lane.Such clear water, even after high tide ( which got pretty close to the beachside properties in mid January!)
The beach can get a bit narrow at high tide but not impassable (just expect to get wet). Not a lot of shade available if you're not with one of the hotels along the beach. To be safe, swim where they have markers. Don't be surprised if you see some sea turtles!
In places the beach is non existant at high tide. Safe swimming areas marked out with buoys. Watersports available. Sea usually calm and always warm.
This was by far and away our best beach experience in Barbados. It is a beautiful beach. You can read chairs for not a lot of money, 10 US. The beach is clean and friendly and, most of all, safe. It does get a little crowded when the crew ships are in town. I would certainly recommend later in the afternoon. The most wonderful thing is that the turtles are about hundred yards offshore. The catamaran trips anchor offshore and feed the fish. This brings the turtles. We swam out from shore and encountered several. They swam within inches of us. We also spotted Rays, sea snakes and an assortment of other fish. Bring your own snorkel and fins if you can. If not you can rent them. There are also paddle boards and other assorted rental items. If you can't swim, one of the locals will take you out to the turtles,,on a board or kayak. Parking is a little tough, but this is Barbados. Also, take time to walk north to the posh beaches where the rich and powerful play.
lovely beach for walking/swimming. Easy to walk on when the sun is low in the morning. Enjoy after walking from Sandy Lane's beach from The Club, when tide is low.
Lovely beach, can get a bit overcrowded but less than the others. Just 10 meters from the shoreline we manged to swim with 2 turtles! Good visibility if you want to snorkel. You can also book snorkeling turtle viewing tours from locals for about $20 per person.Jetski can also be rented from here
