One of my Local Spots when on the Island, The Other one was el Condado Beach in San Juan, I used to be a Croupier for the Roulette Tables from 11-86 till 12-89 (casino dealer) at the Sands Hotel and later at the Condado Plaza San Juan, it is actually Isla Verde but I think is consider to be part of Carolina, This is where the mayor Hotel Strip is and it is the biggest Touristic area in the north side of Puerto Rico is Besides Condado San Juan, everything is at walking distance and all the state side restaurant chains are around the area, plus a bunch of local food eateries, world class Dinning Restaurants from 4 stars Japanese cuisine to out of this world Steak and Potatoes (Churrascos) If you ever go to Puerto Rico Chances are you might stay in this area of Isla Verde in Carolina witch is literally Walking Distance from The Airport or in Old San Juan.
This is one of the better beaches in the San Juan area… Sure their are better ones in more remote areas of the island. But you can literally walk out of some of the hotels here and have a great experience.
Nice protected clean beach near hotels.Within walking distance of meany Isla Verde hotels. Parking for cars with a 2 dollars fee.
If you like to have facilities and amenities close to the beach this is the place. If you are looking for an empty beach full of natural beauty, you need something else
We walked there heading east from Pine Grove Beach. There was shade if you wanted. It is a government run beach, so there were a few lifeguards. Also facilities for picnics and restrooms. They charge if you park inside the gate of the beach.
My son and I Walked two or three blocks to the point from the Hampton Inn our first evening right at sunset. My Daughter and son returned to the same area to do early morning yoga by the morning tide. Both times the beach was clean, calming and beautiful. The third time my son, daughter and husband returned for a late afternoon swim, and my son's cell phone was stolen.I guess the third time was not a charm. However, it was a nice beach.
This is a really great beach. Warm, clear water and nice sand. Great to walk along. At times some seaweed. Gets a little crowded, especially on weekends. Very enjoyable. All ages, families, couples, etc.: A nice mix.
Clean beach with soft sand and small waves. Only 10 minutes taxi from Condado, definitely worth the short trip. Not too crowded here on a Saturday, which is a good surprise! I am assuming this is because of the San Sebastian Festival going on in Old San Juan today. There are chairs for rent for $4 but no beachfront restaurants that we can see. We stopped on the way here for snacks & water. Glad we did!
We enjoyed Carolina Beach two days after Christmas. There are actually references to two different Carolina Beaches here, and we accidentally stopped by both of them! We were staying outside of San Juan, so initially we were looking for the Balneario de Carolina beach, which is just east of the Isla Verde stretch of beautiful sand, which is also called Carolina Beach. We couldn't find the Balneario beach at first, so Dad dropped off the family at one of the Isla Verde entrances to the beach and went searching for the Balneario de Carolina beach; after finding it, he had to search for temporary parking back closer to where he dropped off the family, but the only parking was at a grocery store several blocks away. Dad wanted to go get the family to take them to the Balneario de Carolina beach, but after walking quite a while, he got word from them that they had already paid for an umbrella and two chairs. So, Dad went back to the grocery store to get the car from the temporary parking, drove to Balneario de Carolina in order to pay for official parking (just $4), then walked the 1.5 miles to where the family had staked its ground in the sand. Okay, back to the beaches. So, the Isla Verde Carolina Beach is the popular one behind all the resort hotels. Beautiful, clean sand; beautiful, clean water; lots of Caribbean sun; lots of people. Not much you can add to that. In the afternoon, Dad walked a couple of blocks to get a piping hot pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut and a chilling cold Frosty from Wendy's and that was lunch on the beach. Obviously, lots of choices for dining on the street in front of all the Isla Verde hotels. When we were done, we all walked the 1.5 miles to Balneario de Carolina. It was nice, too, but the sands had a little more debris washed up. There was no crowd over here. There are restrooms and rinsing stations, though not well maintained, perhaps because it is winter. The best part for us is that we could park our car for a small fee, because we could not find any parking in Isla Verde (which is what a gas station attendant had told us when we asked, but we didn't believe her at the time!). All in all, the place to be for fun in the sun in Puerto Rico!
Beautiful, smooth, clean, lots going on, all you would ask for in a beach! The amenities would depend on the hotel/resort/lodging, but for the beach itself, it's perfect. Heaven for joggers, swimmers, sunbathers, sandcastle-builders and all.
Super hip. Pretty busy, beautiful beach, people swimming and playing, kids in the sand. There is a lot of night life in this area. It was fun.
Once I went into the water, I wouldn't get out. My family thought I was going allow the tide to take me out and never be heard from again. However, the waters were clean, calm and so comfortably warm, that I purposely went in several time a day. Loved walking on the beach and picking up all kinds of sea life, some of which I am not sure what they are, but, nonetheless are very interesting. It was in September and it was picturesque and so inviting. Want to do it again.
Loved the beach, atmosphere, everything except the rusty bottle caps in the sand - watch out for those and have an amazing time.
gorgeous beach. We went during the week and to park was only 4.00 dollars. The water was so blue and there were lots of sea shells. They had little picnic structures for shade. Life guard on duty and people cleaning up the beach to ensure it stayed pristine. We entered at Bella Carolina entrance. Lots of parking. Great place
This beach was great I stayed at the Water Beach Club hotel which had this beach right in front I had no complaints although I would make sure I came to the beach early so you can enjoy less sea weed since the tide was low... You get a few people offering food/drinks but I just brought my own stuff in the cooler much cheaper that way...
