The original artwork was great and fun to look at; however, the people working were rude and acted like they didn't want to help us. In fact, I found something that I was going to purchase, and the worker had disappeared. We hung out and browsed a while longer, looked for the lady, but she never came back. We left without buying anything.
A cute little coffee shop with innovative names for their drinks. adjacent to a gift shop that sells different and unique items! There are plaster door frames that you can take home reminiscent of the colourful San Juan doorways!
My husband and I stopped into the Poet's Passage out of intrigue- how could you pass up that name?We walked through the art gallery for a long while, reading the poems and letting them sink in. We were incredibly inspired and then an employee had announced "free music" in the cafe. How wonderful! We stopped in for a coffee and a beer, they had a local San Juan beer, my husband said it was delicious! My coffee was super strong and definitely needed.Overall a great little pit stop filled with inspiration!
My favorite place in Puerto Rico is the Poet’s Passage Café. The cafe is nestled in the the heart of some of the oldest buildings in Old San Juan. It is located on the Calle de La Cruz right across the street from the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, which was built in 1521. It is the second oldest cathedral in North America and South America. The oldest is the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, which was built from 1512 through 1540 in the Dominican Republic. The Poet’s Passage Cafe has a a diverse menu with a rich variety of selections at affordable prices. According to the staff, most of the desserts are made from scratch on the premises. However, I like the café, not just for the food, but for the unique bohemian-Caribbean atmosphere. We have been to Old San Juan three times and we always have to make a stop at the Poet's Passage..They have lovely gifts and the staff is so helpful and friendly..A stop for sure if visiting Old San Juan..
Beautiful inspiration goodies for sale. This was my 2nd visit and I will return when in Old San Juan.
We went to this shop at the recommendation of our hotel concierge. We ended up buying coffee and condiments for gifts. But the best part was the great ambience and the wonderful staff at this store. Friendly, helpful and gracious. What's not to like. Another good find in Old San Juan.
My husband and I stopped here based on all the positive reviews on TA and I'm glad we did! There was even a live poetry reading going on while we were there. We walked away with a cute ornament of a coqui frog on a poinsettia that was made in PR, as well as a a small hand-painted door replicating those of Old San Juan, also made by the owners of the store in PR! There was also a great variety of poetry prints written by one of the owners, and available in many different sizes!Prices were very reasonable - this is definitely a gem among the plethora of tacky souvenir shops!
The Poet's Passage was a nice and cute shop promoting poet scripts for sale in different artistic forms. They even have a stage in the back of the shop where various artist can share their poetry on Tuesday nights. This shop was very relaxing and nice. There is a coffee shop on the left side of the Passage. The female representative was even nice enough to give us a brochure to come back to the Poetry night and other services. Great place!
A must stop for anyone that has a love of words and poetry. They have readings from local poets regularly. Open mike nights.
Nice coffee spot in the heart of Old San Juan. Perfect place to take a break from shopping. Love the café con leche.
its a nice area to hang out if it happens that you are in the town of Ponce,Puerto Rico ,at night with a couple of bars w/ a lot of young people
Stopped in pre-lunch for a snack and some coffee. Great atmosphere but only one person working which slowed things down considerably.
A few nights ago I was privileged enough to get invited to the Poet's night which is held every tuesday. I was delighted to get a better understanding of what was created to support local poets and artists. A business that creates a space for an art form I wish we could see more about. I will be supporting the Poet's passage more and more. Because I want to support art.
Stopped in for some live poetry and music. Coffee was expensive but delicious and considering the atmosphere it was well worth the %20 higher prices.
