This beach is just great for it's protected beach and some ares with shaded structures. There is about 3/4 mile of sand and often not more than 50 people on it.
We loved this beach! Soft sand in a perfect crescent with nice views. It was a bit wavy on both days that we visited, so we didn't get to explore snorkeling there, but what a place for relaxing on the beach and swimming!
It may have been that it was a weekend, but this beach was a little crowded the day we went. There are covered tables for eating and plenty of trees around for shade, which may be why its so popular. The water was clear, the sand was soft. We only stayed to eat lunch and moved on, but it was a good stop especially if you have children.
Nice white sand beach, waves calm enough to swim, beautiful scenery, bathroom facilities, not crowded, large parking area, sheltered areas
Great swimming, walking and relaxing. The only beach with enough people to people watch. Cabanas and grills are free!
As you may know or will find out if you travel to Vieques, it's all about the beaches here, LOL! There are a LOT of them. Caracas was my favorite, and this is why. Beautiful, curving bay. Silky soft sand. Not too much beach grass (at least not during our visit), and the ocean is quite swimmable here. There are about 10-12 pavilions right at the edge of the ocean for those who would like shelter from the blistering sun, and the walk from the parking area to these pavilions and the beach is short and easy access. There is composting pit toilet / out house building) at this beach; not too many beaches in Vieques have "facilities"! And, finally, you don't have to drive for miles and miles down rutted, bumpy roads only to find that most of them are not any better than this (IMO)!
I have found memories of visiting this beach as a kid. I now take my children every summer. The water is clear- waves are perfect for hanging out, lounging on a floatie and to catch a few waves.
Though not easy to get to, these beach was my absolute favorite place to be on Isla Vieques. There aren't many places in the Caribbean that still have that totally unspoiled feel. Because this is part of the Vieques Nature Preserve, hopefully Blue Beach (Caracas) will remain just as quiet and beautiful as when I was there!
I personally liked Caracas more than Blue beach. The water was clear and beautiful and there are little sit outs in the sand- but these are few and you're more likely to get them earlier in the day. We swam for 3-4 hours and water was exquisite. The little cove at the end was beautiful, too. Parking here was better and there were a few portable restrooms. I've heard snorkeling is nice too, but we didn't snorkel here. Loved this beach!
worth visiting even for just an hour, we went in the late afternoon and it was just wonderful. highly recommend to bring snorkeling
Its one of the most amazing beaches in Puerto Rico! You'll love to spend the day in such pristine waters and sand. Great for snorkeling or just enjoy the water and the sun!
snorkel on the left side very close to the rocks to see fan coral or swim to the right of the island to see more fan coral.
bring you cooler .towel, and sun tan lotion. great place to lay out. easy to get to very clean and it also had a porter potty on side.
Looking for white sand and clear waters... This is your place, there's no shade so bring your umbrella and chairs or towels so you can enjoy the sun and the Caribbean Sea!
Caracas Beach seems like the best in the world for sun, walking, and playing in the waves. Sometimes crowded by Vieques standards, it would be considered near-empty anyplace else.My kids almost refuse to go to any other beach.
