We walked to the museum from our hotel, a fair trek up Hope street and arrived just before opening so we were invited to sit and wait in the shade of the café and sample Bob Marley coffee (I still have the paper cups!). Shortly after the opening time a group of about a dozen people formed and we were taken on a tour. Our guide was fantastic - the house itself is beautiful, the grounds are tranquil and informative and I really enjoyed the documentary at the end of the tour but the guide for me was the absolute highlight: a big fan of Marley she took us around the museum bubbling with enthusiasm and information and spicing up the tour with bursts of " he was a very very handsome man, very much loved" - this culminated in her rendition of "One Love" in the Record Room and what a beautiful experience that was. She invited the tour to join her and thankfully we declined. Great experience, very much recommend.

I a Trinidadian in my earlier 20's and I enjoyed the tour and the video at the end...I enjoyed the experience of being in his house. There is a Bob Marley statue at the front you can pose and take a picture. Do enjoy your visit.

We were two couples from South Africa in our late 20's that visited the museum on his 70th birthday weekend. The museum is his house, located in Hope street. If you know his music or recognize what he stood for, please visit. We did the tour for 20US and felt that we got value of money. You tour his house which consist of his recording studio, balcony where he had quiet time and the general house (Sitting room, kitchen and bedroom). You also get to see the spot where they shot him, with the original bullet marks intact. Also, Georgie, yes the one that Bob sings about in 'No woman no cry' is still alive and sits around in the yard.If you're up for it, you can even smoke a 'ziggy' underneath his famous mango tree:)

This is a very well done museum - definitely sanitized but well done. There is no doubt that Bob Marley was a force in the world and that is well captured. While he was apolitical in the sense that he didn't belong to any political party, the messages in most of his songs were very political. The museum however presents him as this man who only talked about Jah and peace. No doubt he wanted peace and so talked and sang about it, but he also got upset and impatient with the political system and so expressed his disgust. Nowhere in the museum do they talk about his most political songs, for example his song entitled 'War' which gives a sense how angry and impatient he was sometimes. There is also nowhere in the museum where they talk about his baby mammas. The man was great but definitely not perfect and I missed this complexity. It is still worth the visit though.

Bob Marley museum is a good spot if you know nothing of Bob and his life. The museum is basically his former house with a little movie theater. Gift shop was excellent with no end of shirts and gear available for purchase, all priced in dollars. The movie at the end is a bit boring but go see the place to say you have been there. Great music playing while you tour as well with the Jamaican guides outstanding in their talk on Mr. Marley and his life. I really enjoyed the tour, which takes less than two hours total to do it.

Worth the visit if you are in Kingston or a big Marley fan. However, I would not recommending going out of your way to go.

The journey to get here is a bit crazy, up mountains and through shanty towns. The travel to and from took about 5 hours and the museum only took about half an hour. Our guide was half baked and got very annoying with his silly laugh after a few times. You don't learn a lot, but there are some cool things to see and you get a sense of it being a special place. Some good photos to be had, but not inside the place of resting. Gift shop is ridiculously priced and they offer you some local herbs if that's your thing. I wanted to learn more about his music, but the tour was more about him living here and moving here and dying here. They are expanding it so it should get better.

Fans will love it, I went with one and enjoyed the experience. Great tour guide who really knows his stuff and a fitting tribute to BM. Nice gift shop and don't forget your camera, although photos are not allowed inside the house.

The place is very calm, full of Bob Marley. The house was very simple and humble. The awards and the personality is amazing, I was impressed. The guide Emile was very nice. The price was a bit high and I didn't understand why in USD? The tour ended with a nice 20 min film and inevitable gift shop (nice t-shirts but only t-shirts and hats). Try to reserve two hrs for the museum.

This museum is different than the Nine Miles. Here you get a glimpse at Bob Marley's work, you get to see his lifetime of work, the place where he used to live and record. There's a room commemorating the raid on his house and Bob Marley being shot. Although I am a huge reggae lover i think it's pretty interesting even for PPL who are not. If you'r lucky you can take a picture with Georgy, who was like a father to Bob. He appears in No Woman No Cry lyrics - "an then goergy would make a fire light" - that's Georgy! Obviously a photo comes with a tip, but it's worth it! There's a bar and a giftshop there. Unfortuneately you'r not allowed to take pictures inside. Too bad. To get there from Half Way Tree take a route taxi heading to Papine.

This museum gave you a good insight into the life of Bob Marley. It was very interesting and we learned a lot of things about the person he was and his background. It has some nice artifacts which are orginals which gave a nice touch.

As a huge Bob Marley fan for may many years it had been one of my lifelong ambitions to visit the Marley Museum. No mean feat from Negril as we found that not one tour operator was offering this and noone else wnated to make the journey. REfusing to be defeated we hired a taxi and made it! It was worth the journey. Emile was a great guide with lots of info and knowledge. The courtyard was lovely and peaceful with the giant frescoes on the walls and the sculpture in front of the house. I loved seeing all the golden discs, newspaper cuttings and hearing the stories from our guide. Also it had a much more authentic and tasteful atmosphere than the house in Nine Mile. Thanks Emile for an interesting and knowledgeable narrative and thanks to Rita Marley for the experience. A fitting tribute to one of Jamaica's National Heroes. Happy 70th Bob. RIP.

I'm a HUGE fan of reggae music so visit Bob Marley Museum was a must-see. As expected I had a great time. I visited the museum the day of reopening. The tour guide Emile was really nice, a great time with music, foods and things.

It was definitely not the best museum I've seen so far but still, it was interesting and authentic with a lot of relicts and stories about Bob Marley. It is a must see in Kingston, especially if you are a fan of Bob Marley or Reggae. Visits are only possible in guided tours- our guide had a lot of knowledge and was very friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone who is staying in Kingston.
