From the moment we were met by our escort from Club Mobay upon arrival at Sangster International Airport, until we arrived back there when we departed, this was by far the best best vacation we have been on. Nothing against all the USVI'S, but the Jamaican people are friendlier and would work circles around the locals at the other islands. Sure, renovation was going on, but I work construction, and you must remodel/renovate to maintain high standards. Staying in the Grande Riviera, we were close to the beach, hot tub, and two separate pools...Honeymoon Hideaway Garden View rooms are the best!! I'm sure I will be reviewing this locale in more detail again...We will be returning here in the near future...we brought the warmth and sunshine back to Michigan, and Spring is just around the corner! Jamaica mon!
We stayed at one of the resorts that has golf included and it was a quick 10 minute drive to the course. We brought our own clubs and, yes, you do pay for the mandatory caddies and they are worth every penny. They know the course, take care of you and really help the pace of play. We had Winston for all 5 rounds we played and both my husband and I had stellar final rounds...the result of of good advice! Yes the course is in a bit of bad shape with the greens being noticeably chewed up. We have played here before and the course quality has declined but it is still pretty and very playable...truly enjoyable holiday golf. Everyone at the course is very friendly and we had a great "above and beyond" experience when Gavin, who wasn't actually working but eating his lunch in the restaurant, jumped up when they ran out of limes for our beer and went and picked them from a tree nearby, washed and cut them for us! How awesome is that.If I could offer one suggestion, there aer no longer any hand towels in the washrooms and it makes it very difficult to freshen up after a hot or muddy round of golf. Please bring those back (and ensure there are always cold towels at the caddy shack...they were marvelous on the 3 days we got them). This is just a minor thing though!Thank you to all at the course for another great golf vacation experience.
Greens were terrible, but the course scenery/views were beautiful. Too far from the resort....about a 25 minute ride each way. We left clubs and shoes there each day. My shoes were left in my bag muddy on my last day. disappointed.
Unfriendly people and expensive quite the ride too this resort from ours was not worth the money i paid
The Sandals Golf course is a nice little lay out with some interesting holes. Very pretty. The great thing about the course are the caddies which you must use. They are fabulous folks and know the greens. Don't see the Ocean but course/trees are a beautiful green.
Sandals tells you that you can 'play for free' however, while you don't pay green fees it is mandatory that you pay for a caddy. Our "free" golf ended up costing $300 -- food and drinks are not included even though they make it seem like it is a 'Sandals' course.
Could have been better - course and caddie were good, but no views of the sea - saw 4 other courses near by that offered nice views of the sea - we had already booked this course though. Price was good - $150 included clubs, cart, caddie and 18 holes - $20 tip for caddie is what we gave.
Played front 9 with 3 other family members. Views from the course were spectacular, caddies were excellent and knowledgeable.
The golf course has inconsistent and slow greens. Fairways are hard and need work.Have seen it in much better condition.
love everything, great location and hospitality, course kinda short but challenging. very close to hotel
Don't rent a golf cart. Get out and walk the course with the caddie. Short course but lots of fun. Played twice and enjoyed both times. Caddies are well worth tipping.
We enjoyed the three rounds of golf we played at this course while staying at the Sandals Royal Plantation. The shuttle from the resort was very convenient - about a 15 minute drive. Our caddies Randy and Martel got to know our games by the end of the first round and were great at reading the greens for us!The grass that is used on the course is very different than at home and they let the grass grow a little longer on the greens that at home so the greens are much slower than what we are used to.We walked the course each time - the back nine seems more hilly than the front. Although we played first think in the morning it was still very hot, so take some water from your resort. This was the first time we had golfed in Jamaica and we did enjoy being able to golf in November! We will be back to play this course on our next trip to Ocho Rios.
dress code applies here and caddies are mandatory. Being a new golfer my caddy was awesome in helping out my swing and I made some awesome shots!!!
Although part of the Sandals set up the supply of drinks or snacks was not part of the inclusive deal?? 3$ (US) for a bottle of water!!! They do not make it obvious that there is a 3 for 2 deal, which if you are hiring the clubs as i was plus the caddy cost etc is quite a bit. The course and staff were very friendly, so overall OK.
Beautiful course! Lots of flowers and Palm trees. The course was very wet with all of the rain but other than being wet the course was great. My husband is a much better golfer than myself and he enjoyed the course. He found the greens a little harder than at home.
