This was my very first trip into a rain forest and it was amazing!!!! We were able to bird watch and the pace was however we wanted it to be. We came upon a troop of leaf cutter ants, have seen them on nature shows but to see it up close and in motion was one of the highlights for me. Our guide LeRoy was a gem, with his knowledge of the wildlife and the flora just made the experience all that much better. These gems of the earth should be a high priority for all counties to save and protect for all generations.

Take the longer hike option and rent the willies and a guide. you get so much more from the tour with a guide and they can tailor it to want you want. I have been there bird watching, romantic night time walk to a waterfall and to see fireflies hike with the kids. Not to many places on the planet you can see virgin rainforest by taking a short stroll. Buttress trees , leaf cutter ants, endemic birds brilliant

A visit to here will convince you that have done tropical jungle and that it's worth saving. It is a good investment to take a guide. we ventured in once on our own and enjoyed the experience but we learnt so much more and saw so much more with a guide. We finished up at his place sitting on his verandah, drinking beer and watching the parrots coming in to roost. I have been in lots of jungle forest parks and this is among the best. Long may it continue to be protected.

Wonderful experience of walking, climbing and looking at so much beauty in Tobago's lovely rainforest with Harris McDonald - who was so knowledgeable - thank you!

I was lucky enough to join a prebooked tour with Newton George. Those 4 hours were the highlight of my Oceania Cruses off ship experiences. I am an amateur bird watcher who was awed at Newton's spotting ability. His excitement at seeing his favorites was intoxicating. The 5 of us could not have been more pleased with our stimulating tour.

A highlite of our trip was a ride through the Tobago Forest Reserve. We hired a guide and a vehicle as the reserve itself is very large and you really need someone to show you around. The tree in the picture is the oldest one on the I sland and is growing so fast that it is trearing up the road. Clean fresh water flows from the numerous streams We filled a few bottles to take back to the hotel and enjoyed them every day of our trip. The animals are unusual as they have grown up in a protected enviornment and have very few preditors. Well worth the trip.

Would highly recommend him over any other guides if you are into birding. He is a pro! He spots birds in the trees while he is driving and stops. He makes sure everyone has taking photos and has seen the bird. Very patient.

Fantastic experience through the rainforest. Lots to see and hear. Darlington was fantastic, very knowledgeable. A wonderful morning experience.

no fruit on trees thus there were no birds, we went during wrong season. but otherwise quite interesting

Maybe this is dependent on your guide but ours was brilliant. A six foot eight Rastafarian, called Edwin, who looked real scary but turned out to be a smashing guy who when he found out my wife was having trouble with the rough ground treated her like his own grandmother. He really knew his subject and taught us a lot. Do not bother with the rubber boots offered for hire as they are wetter and more slippery inside than the forest floor itself.

Great experience - specially with local guide. Must visit while in tobago and fully enjoy the nature - flora and fauna. Better to go on your own and hire guide there.

My wife and I were collected from our hotel at the crack of dawn by Newton in his own car and the three of us set off for an absolutely wonderful morning of walking and nature.Although the journey may have started quietly ( not helped by my over indulgence in rum punch the night before ) this guys happy and bubbly personality soon got us relaxed and laughing along with him. He ducked and dived down back lanes and by ways and every where he went he found birds of interest and gave us time to watch them as he chatted and showed of his immense knowledge of the nature of these islands. The climax was of course was the drive up to, and walk in, the rain forest. Newton's eye for spotting things in the forest amazed me enough, but when he started calling birds in to sit in plain sight well I was truly delighted. Our trip over he took us home to our hotel but asked if we minded if he picked up Mrs George on route, which we were of course happy to do.Our morning was then completed with Newton and his wonder lady coming into our hotel for a drink and a chat ( where we discovered just how famous this guy is ) a wonderful finish to an enthralling trip. And you will see buy the date I did this trip how much pleasure and fond memories I gained from it, as the year we were there was actually 2011 but this site wont let me go back that far.Thank you again Newton.

Booked a bird watching trip in the forest with well known guide Newton George. He was great! Had binoculars for us - we are amateurs! And made sounds to call the birds. His knowledge is extensive and he also is quite famous in his field. If you are thinking about going here give him a call or email to arrange a tour with him! http://www.newtongeorge.com/tours.htm
