We were supposed to go to Virgin Gorda for the day to snorkel at Maho Bay. When we got to the ferry we realized our plans weren't going to work out. We walked over to the airport and gave the driver a few different locations we wanted to go - he immediately said - go to Brewers Bay! There was a cruise ship in port and cane bay would be packed. The beach is fabulous! A real cove with snorkeling over on the side. A nice sandy beach to swim. They have a little bar/restaurant to grab lunch, and they had beach chairs you could use - and pull into the shade of the trees. So relaxed there, so beautiful. Definitely worth a day trip!
This is our favorite beach on Tortola. However it has been discovered by the cruise ships and gets pretty crowded on some days. The beach is white sand. The water is usually clear. There is a long reef running along the left edge that is easily accessible from the beach, and that extends well out into the bay. Excellent snorkeling. There is a bar that also serves hamburgers and hot dogs adjacent to the beach that has bathroom facilities. Trees run along the back edge of the beach providing shade if needed.
Great jungle off the beaten track location with terrific beach and a couple of good bars. Way less developed and authentic than Cane Garden bay. Worth a visit.
When the cruise ships flood Cane Garden Bay with people, drive a bit further along the coast and come here. Chairs rentals available. Bathrooms. Good bar as well. We didn't have any food, so can't rate that, but it was available. The views can't be beat.
My wife and I arrived around 3pm. There were 3 cruise ships docked in Road Town - only 10 people on the beach. By 5 pm everyone, except us, had left. Beautiful quiet beach.
Brewers Bay is fantastic. A great place to swim/sun and enjoy one of the prettiest spots on Tortola. Uncrowded when we visited, and close to where we stayed, it was our go to beach several times on our vacation.
After our experience at Magens bay, not necessarily bad, just too many people!! We found brewers bay. Its by the airport. No charge to enter. Lots of parking, and a lovely quiet beach with a great view. (if you dont like the noise of the odd plane taking off then avoid it) I found the plans great to watch as I bathed in the ocean. Its quiet, a few locals, and a great place to relax on the beach away from crowds. Only bathroom facilities no food that we saw. So bring your own! Its a great place to spend the morning or afternoon
My husband and I found this place on our last day.. what a tragedy because we would have been there every day if we had known it was here! The beach is huge and has a lot of bars surrounding it.We didn't have to suffer from the cruise ship tourists, and so the beach was literally empty, which is so wonderful. I cringe to think what the place would look like with a few hundred people on it.
Brewers Bay has a WONDERFUL beach and is usually pretty quiet. Do not go on days when the cruise ships are in town because the tour buses come to Brewers. The trip down to the bay is very steep with switchbacks but it is worth the drive. There is some snorkeling along the rocks to the left of the beach. Small bar and limited restaurant available. Take towels or rent chairs from the bar. Water is shallow for a good distance and the water is calmer than some of the other bays so it is good for children. Check out the sugar mill ruins while you are there. We love this beach!
Great beach, just harder to find than most. Far less people than Cane Garden Bay. Has a simple beach bar named Nicole's that will meet your basic needs. It is much larger than when I first went many moons ago, but still quaint. The snorkeling is further out so be prepared to swim. I love this place for its beach, waters, and relative seclusion.
Just beyond Cane Garden Bay is Brewers Bay, we negotiated the roads to get there and was rewarded by a great, low key beach. not as busy as Cane Garden but does have it's share of cruise ship folks. We spent a good part of the day at Brewers Bay and had a great time, a must visit location.
It is a small beach and most of the snorkeling is pretty far off shore so have some fins with you at this beach. There is a pretty good drop-off so be comfortable with your swimming skills as you are in 15 foot to water almost the entire time and there is some undertow.
Over the mountain road from Cane Garden Bay, Brewers Bay is not the easiest beach to drive to, but it's well worth it. Beautiful beach for sunbathing and swimming. Great snack bar with excellent hamburgers. Your own private beach!
Brewers is a gorgeous bay, off the tourist path and popular with the locals. The sand is golden and the waters offer some of the best snorkeling on the island! Be aware of the strong undertow in the winter months. There are two beach-side bars for delicious rum punch, a local beer or a bushwacker. Yum! This is also one of the few places that offers camping grounds.
Brewers Bay has a very nice beach, the bay is full of places to explore by snorkeling, cannot get boats into the Bay due to all the coral and plant life, so it makes a great place to see the diversity. The restaurant is no great shakes, burger and fries, nothing fancy. The trees on the beach are beautiful and plentiful if you need a break from the sun.
