Loved this beach, nice white sand and water was so pretty and clear.Although to windy and rough to snorkel, we had a blast playing in the waves. As with most of the beaches here, there was hardly any people there, almost like going to your own private beach.
I had reviewed previous comments to visit this Beach when I was in Virgin Gorda, so I did after walking to Gorda Peak. The snorkeling wasn't that great when I was there but it may have been because it was windy. That being said, because of the wind, there was so much very fine sand blowing non-stop. It wasn't as comfortable as one might want. The beach was lovely though. The views from a distance (driving in) are devine.
Great beach, and on a calm day with clear waters the snorkeling is terrific. We sighted many varieties of coral, fish, and a couple of sea turtles. Walk from the sandy beach and you don't have to go far before the underwater sights entice you.
we visited this beach on two separate days. The first was windy and a lot of waves, undertow was strong. Water was cloudy, visibility poor. No snorkeling on that day. Second day waves had calmed down significantly. Got there at 9am and we were alone. Beautiful sand, calm waves and great fun. Definitely a hidden gem, but focus on off hours and watch the currents, they can be strong. Drive in is easy access, but no facilities. Only a trash can and a beach.
Beach was very nice, but on the day we were there the wind was kicking up sand making it so unpleasant that we left for a different beach.
Easy walk from Little Dix Bay. Pretty water. Waves are not very big, so swimming is easy. And you can swim any way you want on the beach.
After seeing pictures of Savanah Bay, I was skeptical whether the beach was really that gorgeous? The pictures did not do it justice. 6 people on a mile of sand. This place is great.
The beach is about a quarter mile strand of white on the drake channel side of virgin gorda. There is no boat access, so you need a vehicle to get there. There are no facilities, unless you call a trashcan a facility. But bring a picnic and (maybe) feed the beautiful virgin gorda chickens. Snorking is apparently good. Don't go if it's windy...brutal if you sit on the beach.
Wow! This is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to. The water is so clear that we spent hours swimming and snorkeling here. Beware of two small negatives - there are spiky things in the vegetation along the beach which can stick in your clothes and beach towels as well as feet. There is also little shade. These two minor negatives are hugely outweighed by the beauty and colour of this beach.
supposed to be great for snorkeling, but when we were there, it had just stormed, so i assume that is why it was quite disappointing. however, so beautiful and remote.
what a beautiful beach. You could walk way out and it was not too deep. We were the only ones on the beach most of the day. The sand was so white.
Just like in the movies, this long white beach is just a dream. There are trees to park under and also palapas to sit under if the sun gets too hot. You can walk for ages here and just gaze into the turquoise waters of more white sand or go snorkeling and have a look at the horse-shoe shaped coral cove around the beach. It's a favourite of most people visiting Virgin Gorda because of its pristine waters and peaceful atmosphere. No shops around here, so make sure you bring a cooler of drinks etc. A place to spend the day at!!
Savannah beach is about 1/2 mile long and has some of the most beautiful water around. On a calm day it is great snorkeling spot and even when it is a little rough out the swimming is still very good. There are virtually no people on this beach so if you want privacy for skinny-dipping, ( not really legal in the BVI ), go down the beach a ways. The most people I have ever seen at one time on this beach is about 12, on a Sunday when some of the locals came for a swim.
Gorgeous white sandy beach, very private and a fairly good coral reef in shallow water for snorkelers. Undeveloped and pristine, complete with a few chickens. Our favorite of the trip! No facilities.
Just gorgeous- not much else to say to describe this beach. Epic white sand, perfectly turquoise waters- it is truly out of this world. We camped out under a nice old palapa and made this our sanctuary on Virgin Gorda. The snorkeling is pretty cool here as well. We saw rays, a sea caterpillar (I'm sure there is a more scientific name for that), an enormous puffer type fish that I thought was a shark, tons of fish, conch, coral. The coral here gets really high in some spots, so new snorkelers please please be careful and don't try and swim over parts where you will run over coral. Saw too many people trampling over these precious resources :( Other than that, go here and enjoy it! It's one of my favorite beaches of all time!
