Quite a good exhibit to learn about how we get our hydro/power. Although well away from the power plant, one gets the feeling that one is on site especially looking towards the Power Plant from the lookout balcony. A good place to take children because it's interactive exhibits. Not too long and really good for a rainy day. Oh yes there isn't a fee or parking charge.
This is an ideal destination for an educational tour. I learned that the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station is the largest in the world, it generates 30 percent of the electricity consumed each year in Ontario and all without producing any greenhouse gases. There are interactive exhibits for kids and adults, videos, and a great panoramic view of Lake Huron. On the day I visited one of the resident wild turkeys walked up to the viewing platform to check us out. It is a long drive so I recommend checking out Inverhuron Provincial Park situated adjacent to the Bruce Power site. Great campsites, trails, a bedrock shoreline and a sandy beach.
This visitor centre is free admission so you can't beat the price! A great place to learn all about nuclear power generation with a theatre for a short video presentation, many interactive displays and exhibits that are interesting and well done. A great deck on back of building for viewing towards the reactors' buildings, Lake Huron, other structures relating to Bruce Power and many acres of land. You cannot go beyond the visitor centre unless you book a ticket for the bus tours that run in July and August 3 days a week and 2x a day - see their website for details. The tour we went on was excellent and our enthusiastic student guide was very informative and answered many questions - starts with a video with boarding the bus after, total time about 45 min. You MUST book ahead (by phone or email) but tickets also free.
