Thank you for your comments, we always appreciate it when we are given constructive criticism on how we performed and what we can do to make it a better experience for you when you are visiting. We recall serving your group and are aware that the service we provided that day was not normal for us. Due to a larger then normal amount of walk in traffic at that time, we were struggling to provide our regular level of service, and we do apologize if our staff was overwhelmed and not as welcoming as they would like to be. We were pleased that we could provide the full tour, wine and cheese tasting for your group of 4, all within the time frame you had originally requested. We apologize if you felt that you were not welcome here, as we pride ourselves on making our customers feel welcome and comfortable in our family Winery. We do hope that you reconsider visiting us in the future, as we would like to make it up to you!
Our daughter was recently married at Sprucewood Estate Winery and it couldn't have been more perfect. The wedding planner, Michelle, was very helpful and the whole event was more than we could have hoped for. The fact that the weather cooperated, was a bonus! Sprucewood is a beautiful location. So serene and romantic. The tents that are set up permanently from Spring to Autumn are big and airy, so there is lots of room for everything and everyone. This was a great event and we certainly appreciated the input and cooperation of the wonderful owners and staff. Would recommend this for a wedding or any other important event.
Love driving to Sprucewood any time through out the year. Everyone is so friendly and thoughtful. Love their picnic baskets, Sunday afternoon music & food and their Christmas event weekends.
Nice winery. Pleasant staff helping me understand the wines and some simple pairings. I like sweet and found one I liked. For those with a more sophisticated palette, there are many to try! Fee for the tasting because we had the Tall Ships passport.
Group of us (4) visited on a Wednesday and enjoyed the experience very much. No fee for tasting and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable without being "too" much. The interactions were just plan useful and fun. Worth the visit.
This place reminds one of a country farm with weathered barns. The property is on the north shore of Lake Erie and has a great view from the rear of the property. On this day there was a wedding about to happen and everything was set up outdoors and facing the waters of the lake. However we did notice that the entire property is in need of some sprucing up (not a pun on the name). The grass around the building was in need of mowing and the walkways and entrance doors were getting a little ragged. We were out here a few years ago and it was fresh and well maintained. It really does look like they are not experiencing the amount of customers as in the past as there were no one visiting the actual store area besides us. Sprucewood is part of a group of six local vineyards participating in a special upcoming event celebrating the historic War of 1812. We drove out here on a day trip to five wineries to purchase each vineyards product.
This was my first wine tour in this area so I only have California and European wineries to compare to. We booked a wine and cheese tour for a bachelorette midweek. At first I had a hard time connecting with Tanya, but once we connected through email it became easy. We were coming from various starting points and arrived a bit late. Everything was well laid out. We had one person cancel late and had to cover her cost (only $10) but Tanya had given us plenty of everything. The wines were great, the place was not busy so Tanya let us pick out own pace. I liked 4 of the 5 wines and 3 of the 4 cheeses. We also ordered a picnic basket to split for $25 and there was plenty of food in it. The grounds were lovely but we didn't have enough time to make it to the beach, I would definitely make it back to explore the shore. Overall, a great experience. A few people with us bought some wine and trinkets. Only thing we all agreed on that could be improved, and it may have been because they were short staffed, but we thought each wine should have been served in a different glass, not just poured into the same one each time. I think I may have hit the nest winery in EPIC wine country my first try out!
i live in colchester - so having this winery and many others close by is a real treat. Sprucewood is beautiful. You could spend an afternoon just sipping wine over looking lake erie.
Great wine and knowledgeable staff make this visit along the Lake Erie shore a must. Try before you buy...
I have partaken in Sprucewood Shores wines several times over the past few years via their booth at local food and wine festivals. Their wines are excellent quality. I even took some colleagues of mine visiting from France and they also loved the Sprucewood wines - need I say any more?Looking forward to seeing more Sprucewood wines in the LCBO
We've been to all but 2 of the wineries on the EPIC wine route. Sprucewood Shores is our favorite! Not only is it absolutely beautiful, the wines are great and the staff is friendly and very knowledgable. They offer ample tastings and are great at matching up your tastes with their wines. I highly suggest you grab a picnic basket (may to october), a glass of wine, and take a romantic stroll to a picnic table by the shore. You won't be disappointed.
We love to use the winery route map and pick a different winery to visit every month.... great wine and wine tasting here.
This is by far one of the prettiest wineries this county has to offer. The wines are award winning and delicious. I am especially fond of their red wines. The estate is exquisite and perfect for a wedding reception!!!
Tried a number of their wines. Some were very nice. The 2011 Deux Rouge was modestly priced and seemed a good value. The 2008 Meritage was also nice but at well over $20 a bottle it was difficult to purchase. The 2010 Lady In Red was a full bodied wine and enjoyed by all. Priced reasonably as well. The 2010 Select Late Harvest Vidal was very nice. Sweet but not too sweet with some very nice fruit. We also tried a 2011 Pinot Gris and a 2011 Riesling. Both very dry and both would be a great summer wine. The Pinot Gris perhaps a bit drier but both would work with food or a summer sipper.Staff were knowledgeable and very friendly.Property is very nice and you can walk to a nice sand beach at the front of the property. They also do weddings here and it would be a great location for the special day. Well worth a visit.
We stopped by here for a quick tasting and ended up loving the place. We came back 2 more times to get more wine. The woman pouring the wine was funny, helpful and generally a good host. We also met the wine maker (she is surprisingly young) who answered a lot of our questions. Their wine is very good and you can't help but buy some. The building is gorgeous and they had a tent set up for a party they were going to have. It is a great place to have a celebration. The view is spectacular - a nice lawn out to lake erie. All on all I would highly recommend a stop and rest visit.
