This was my first experience at a race track. The races were exciting and the horses were beautiful. Betting was convenient. Food and beverages were readily available. It was Family Day and we went with relatives including children.
I love going to the Horse Races in Fort Erie, it's is one of the most beautiful race tracks in the world, the most beautiful in North America. They keep the grounds so beautiful, with all those flowers and the 3 little ponds in the infield, it is lovely! This Race Track is the Grande Dame fo Horse Racing history for Canada, it is over 118 years old, and still beautiful. There is lots to do, good food to eat, drinks, even ice cream! I have been coming to this race track since I was a child living in Toronto in the 60's! I loved it, there were so many trees, and it was always a family outing. We loved it. Nice place to go to get otu of the city for a nice day at the races. The horses are beautiful. The property is very clean. It is with great sadness that there is talk about this track closing! Recently it was purchased by new owners, hopefully they will get it back to the thriving business it was. I am a 2 dollar better, you don't have to spend much at all for the fun and excitement. The horses hooves beating on the ground as they come up the stretch to the finish line, as your heart is racing to the same beat. Yeah, my 2 dollar bet just won! I love this place since I was a child, and still do. It's a great way to spend a day with the whole family or a group of friends. My biggest wish is that this Grande Dame will continue on with horse racing forever! Everyone should at least once experience the excitement of the races. There are plenty of places to eat on the property, and off the the property. There are some hotels, and motels near by. Lots to see in this gem of a little town. The Race track has supported many families in this town for geneations, hope it continues with the new owners.
I really enjoyed my experience on Aug 17th and 19th.The food marlket has a good selection for the price. There are also artists present during and after the race that adds to the pleasure
Fort Erie race track is a fantastic place to spend a Sunday afternoon ,you can wager as low as $2 a race ,they have very good food at reasonable prices ,a band usually entertains, the kids will enjoy getting close to the horses ,do not have to pay to park or to enter the building .Very cheap afternooon to take the children or grand children out
we only hope and pray that despite all governmental obstacles, this lovely track, movie site of "Black Stallion," makes it into 2014.... the horses ain't so hot but the competition is... Fort Erie deserves a better fate... shame on rico 7207 for his skepticism, my guess is he lost what he considers a bundle...
This 100 year old track is the home of the Prince of Wales Stakes. It merits preserving. This is just a short drive (less than a half hour) from the scenic grandeur of Niagara Falls. Take in a day at the races.
Not the best horses in the Country to be wagering your money on.They do not ever run to form according to their past stats in the racing form and are so bad at times, that you would swear these races are fixed and bet on by owners and trainers. I'll never go back again.
Fort Erie Race Track is only minutes from Buffalo and easily assessable for Canadians by the "QE". It is considered one of the most picturesque race tracks with great landscaping and large grandstand and plenty of tellers. For eating there is a formal dining room and a buffet, but I prefer the BBQ stand, great hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. You can watch the horses in the walking ring outside the main track before each race. There are few sporting experiences more exciting than the finish of horse race, especially if your have a bet. It's a great way to spend an afternoon during the beautiful Canadian summer days. Who knows, you may get lucky!
We have been many times over the years and have always had a great time. Sadly it does not appear this landmark will be with us much longer. it truly is a shame.
Not much else to say. At the end of race season this year they closed for good. Too bad. Rumors around town are that a developer is going to put in a car race track, which would be a horrible noise/pollution factor. What they COULD and SHOULD do is to renovate it into a world class horse venue for shows. The casino is now closed too. Fort Erie is drying up. Thankfully, its a haven for seniors retiring out of Toronto.
Alright place, other then the race track its just like every other casino I have been to maybe even a little smaller then most casinos.
This is one of the nicest race tracks in Canada. The grounds are beautiful .They also have the slots. The food is very good.
Enjoy the sport of horse racing cheering on the thoroughbreds and quarter horses in their respective races. Enjoyed the Tikki Bar with bonus of ladies who come around your bets. Can get close to horses by going to paddock area. The very best french fries to be found.....about an hour from Toronto..free parking and free admission..picnic area as well..
The slots are gone. The race track has a nice outdoor part. There is easy viewing of the paddock and track, especially for kids. Very nice landscaping in the infield. The stands need renovation. Typical list of simulcasting. The racing is cheap, but the atmosphere is still good.Go before the gov't shuts the whole place down!
The track was nice but may be in decline due to cutbacks. No lights means earlier post times, so keep an eye on the schedule. The track staff was very friendly, but oddly, one of the uniformed Security staff felt the need to constantly stare down my blind girlfriend. Hello, she's blind (that means she can't see you glaring at her).
