City Hall and the Springer Square behind it is a Kingston jewel. In summer the square is filled with people, events, movies in the square and a weekly market. In winter it's an adyllic winter skating rink.Within metres of restaurants, coffee houses and bars, this is a great Kingston landmark.

The only time I ever visit city hall is to pay a parking ticket (easy to get in Kingston if you don't pay attention to where you're parking) so of course I rate it as an awful place.

The building is beautiful! But don't even think of going in for customer service.... Stick to the outside and take lots of photos!

A stunning Kingston landmark with year round focus. Centrally located, its a great meeting place or site to start your visit to the "Limestone City". Well maintained outdoor skating rink make it a great for kids and couples. Many cafes, restaurants and interesting shops nearby.

As a volunteer tour guide at Kingston Hall, I may sound biased but the 1800s building is magnificent. From the main entrance to the beautiful stained glass windows in Memorial Hall, to the Council Chambers, the Council Lounge, one can feast their eyeson the splendor.Situated facing the Marina and Lake Ontario it is well situated.Garry Golding

We stopped by just to look at the building and a guide offered to show us around as part of the city's tourist facilities. The building was used as the Capital Building when Kingston was the capital of Canada, until Queen Victoria thought that it was too close to those untrustworthy yanks and the capital was moved to Ottawa. The building is a delight with its stained glass windows and ornate council chamber and old gaols. The City Hall is opposite the riverside park and near other attractions in this area. Although not operating when we visited, there is a market operating on several days a week in the square behind the City Hall. The free guides are very informative.

A well preserved old building with local markets held in the area around it on several days a week. It is right near the waterfront and parkland.

We took a free tour, just to kill some time before our cruise. Much to our surpirse, we absolutely loved it! After a very short wait, we got our own private tour guide. The tour was absolutely fascinating, and we were sorry when we had to rush it a bit to make our other schedule. The City Hall is very convenient to the other downtown attractions, and it has our full recommendation.

A knowledgable guide. A tour of some beautiful rooms & their history, also history of Kingston. We ended with a tour of the basement & the former misdemeaner jail. Would recommend this to anyone who is interested in history and architecture.

There isnt too much to say about city hall. It is a very cool building and is right out of a Victorian postcard. It makes for some nice photos. The one thing that was happening was the farmers market that was happening in the square behind the market on the weekend. Lots of vendors, and not just fresh fruit and veggies. Lots of artisans with jewlery and crafts, and some very talented local artists. Some of the locals complained that the food is not actual farmers, but resellers. Either way the food looked good. Because I was in a hotel I didn't have much need to purchase an of the produce, but the crafts and art was very cool and I managed to pick up a few prints.

As a history lover, im so loving the guided tour (25 minutes) they take you up to the third level and the basement and fill you up with information about just everything!

Self guided tours only take you from the ground to the second floor but if you take a guided tour with one of their volunteers the guide will take you to the third floor and the basement where the Old CIty Jail was previously located.Roy, our cheerful guide gave us a very informative tour of the City hall building including the history of the occupants and the previous tenants of the City hall. It was interesting to know that the building used to house two bars(yes for drinking) and a medical clinic. At the basement you will see photos of the Royal Family including the signed guestbook of Prince Charles and Princess Diana during their visit to Kingston. The Old City Jail still has the old stove oven and chair back in the 1800s.

A beautiful building just a few steps away from the water. Had a great tour during the day (very informative and lively) where guide recommended buying tickets at the Visitor Information Centre across from city hall for a show that evening taking place in the old jail cells in the basement. A wonderful theatrical performance that told the stories of actual prisoners of the cells! Would definitely suggest stopping at city hall as well as seeing the show (called The Lockup).

Ornate and beautiful but full of history. We took the self-guided tour and enjoyed learning about it's history. The stain glass windows that depicted scenes from the first world war were astounding, they were located in what was originally the town hall.

Full of history, architectural features are wonderful. A tour of City Hall is made extra special when the Farmers Market is open ib the rear parking lot.
