100+ years ago the black Donnelly were the talk of Lucan, ontario canada. This museum is a history of town events.

Located right on Lucan's main street with lots of parking. Four of us visited here on an autumn afternoon. I would recommend that you watch the 20 minute video of the Donnelly story and then check out the exhibits. They also have an out building with more heritage items.

I had heard about this museum quite a while ago, while reading up on the notorious Donnelly family... I was intrigued at the time & always planned to visit the museum, finally it worked out that I was able to go on Thanksgiving monday! This also turned out to be the last day that the museum was open in 2013 & what was amazing, was that we arrived with only a few minutes to spare before closing & the wonderful curator opened the door & let us in to wander around at our own leisure... She also opened up areas for us that had been closed for the day & turned on the video for us to watch! It was well worth the drive to Lucan & we also took in the church & graveyard & drove past the old Donnelly homestead... Also found the history of other early settlers in Lucan & their ties to the Donnelly family interesting! Enjoyable visit! Hope to go back & spend more time at the museum someday!

A great museum (inside and outside), this impressively the situation in the late 19th Century shows and documented the massacre of the Donnelly family. Well worth a visit in any case. We are from Germany and were during a family visit in London / Ontario in Lucan.

While driving on a sunday, we saw the sign off HWY #7 for the Donnelly Museum. I had read the novel years ago about the tragedy surrounding this family and decided to take a chance and see if it was open. Right on the Main street in the town of Lucan, it was well worth the $5.00 each to go in. We watched the introductory video, and then had a look at all the wonderful artifacts and historic displays. It was interesting to know that this area had also been settled by black slaves in the 1850's, similar to Uncle Toms Cabin in Dresden. The story of the Donnelly Family is very interesting, and after the museun visit ,you can visit the church /graveyard and drive down Roman line past the old homestead.........you have to call ahead if you want to book a private homestead tour, which we did not. We thoroughly enjoyed this museum , it is a tour worth taking and a tale which you will not forget!
