I really enjoyed skiing at Snow Valley with my son (on a Spring Break in the US) on March 12, 2015.I found the the staff at Snow Valley generally very friendly. Of course thanking them for their assistance when they slow down the chairs so you can sit more comfortably helps :)With over 53 ski seasons behind me in the Alps I am a good skier and the runs were not a challenge but they were a lot of fun. They are fantastic for beginners and even intermediate. Certainly a bit short but well designed. A lot of fun at night. We were lucky and enjoyed plenty of sunshine, temperatures around the freezing point and few skiers. So no lines :)The rental (equipment) was quite good and the deal (rental + 6 hours pass) unbeatable: 55 CAD per person. While I was checking my mails in one area with free wifi a ski instructor passing by just said these few words to me "you are a hell of a good skier" and I enjoyed the compliment as well as the open attitude and the simplicity. This mindset can only be very beneficial for beginners and intermediate skiers with a desire to progress. As a bonus we enjoyed a amazing sunset...
My husband and I went tubing at this hill last week. We arrived right when they opened at 9am and the hill was not too crowded. We had a stay and tube package with our hotel. We were really upset to find out that it was for 5 runs each, when we had expected 2 hours unlimited riding from our understanding. I thought it would take 20min and we'd be done. It was about 40min. I talked to the manager, Ryan, to explain my frustration. He explained that it was a different tubing hill in Barrie that had unlimited tubing. I called my hotel but was unable to speak to a supervisor or manager. Ryan approached me to find out what they told me. I explained that I wasn't able to talk to the right people. He made things right by offering us additional tubing rides due to the fiasco. I was very impressed. If we didn't have a tubing package, 2 hours worth of tubing for the two of us would have cost around $100! We did encounter some people with ski type tags that had time stamps. I asked a girl about this. She told me she received a group rate with her church group for 2 hours unlimited tubing for $20.The runs are fantastic and fast. One of the employees was chewing tobacco and carrying around his Pepsi cup to spit it out, both at the top and bottom of the hill. Seems a little unprofessional.Otherwise a really fun time.
The staff we're very disinterested to see if you are going to the next level, they were always taking to each other and half of the time they were not even at the bottom of the hill, so you were going on it over & over but nobody said anything. When there was finally someone there it did it on the 1st try, which made me even more upset. You can also not skip levels, so you have to go 1 then 2, then, 3 all the way to 6. Even worse, like any other ski place - you have to pay!! OVERALL IT WAS A BIG WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!
Skiing is very funy and snow valley too! I was in Snow Valley one for one day in a weekend and that was an unforgettable experience. If you had never practiced ski, don't worry because you can take a class for beginers and after that you could enjoy some hills, of course hills for beginners. After some hours enjoying you also take a break and get snacks or food into the restaurtants. So enjoy it and be carefull!
The resort is 80 km from my place in Toronto. The chalets are new and large, so many people can have a snack or wait for kids skiing. The washrooms are large and clean! Free wi-Fi, that is not available in other resorts. There are several lifts so the choice of trails is good. I liked it the most up to March 2015. Gonna to visit more and share my opinion!
Just came back from Snow Valley and the skiing was very good. Went with my son and he says he had a great time. This was the second time this year that we went skiing. We bought a 4 hour lift ticked and signed up for the lesson level 2. We told the girl at the ticket counter that this was our first time there, she was very helpful and answered all our questions. It was a busy Sunday. The instructor showed up on time and was very helpful and courteous. He spent time with each of us giving us simple yet very helpful pointers. They have various difficultly level slopes. We skied the beginner slopes that were well maintained and fairly lengthy in distance. They were well suited to beginners. We rented full equipment and here again the staff was very nice and helpful. Equipment room was spacious and well laid out so getting the equipment was quick. We definitely plan to go back again and try the more challenging slopes.
VERY fun times with friends! Very nice little community surrounding area, and nice staff as well. Very open to all skill levels. Highly reccenend we! + good chalet food and relaxing area.
Amazing experience for beginners and anyone interested in learning how to get involved in racing whether you are 5 or 50. New lodge helps to remove congestion of previous years in the main lodge. Great deals for skiing found if you purchase early in July! For those who have to relax in the lodge while kids are in programs, the Wifi needs improvement and also accessibility from all lodge areas including the Triple S room for passholders. Have been skiing with my family there since 2001.
Took my partner there for Valentine's Day 2015 and it was GREAT!Surprisingly not too crowded with helpful and friendly team members.Side Tip* You'r not required to buy packages and can purchase tickets for only the lift (if you have your own equipment), at a separate express window directly outside of the sales office. We spent about… $150.00 for the 6 hour day, we were thinking four hours would be juuust enough but the price was about $2.00 off between the 4 and the 6 hour day, so we figured we could stretch those couple hours in the chalet or tubing or something- which we did.So it's about $45.00 per person for 6 hour lift tickets and $30.00 per person for the ski, boots and poles rentals.Snow Valley also offers a large cafeteria for families and groups that is heated and includes a Accessible area for purchase of convenience foods and microwave use. Washrooms are located in all buildings (chalet, cafeteria, rental building)Snow Valley offers:-Skiing-Snowboarding-Tubing-Kids Friendly mini ski slopes area-Moderate Black Diamond hills -Full Chalet w Vegetarian options -Full Bar w Wine *It's recommend that you don't operate lifts etc. while inebriated… … Does:-Go to the large Chalet and warm your toes by the many fireplaces they have set up.-Black Diamond G or H trail-Easiest Black Diamonds you'll ever experience, might as well earn yourself some bragging rights :)-Have a deliciously sweet hot chocolate-Go on hill J, it's a gorgeous narrow path, lined with trees almost 3/4 way down before it widens out at the bottom.Dont's:-Be afraid to try the bigger looking hills, they're a lot more menacing then they look :)-Leave after only a few hours, Snow Valley is beautiful as the sun is going downHope this was helpful, have fun!
Took my son for snowboarding lessons in early February 2015. The place is big. Very well run... The staff is very friendly and helpful. It has quite a few hills ..few greens but still family/kid friendly. Lots of skiiers ..not many snowboarders. It is attached to the Tubing park which is a lot of fun. The only negative I have is the lineups and the wait time. It is a busy hill. I have skied at many resorts but this one seemed slow?? Aside from that ..the food was good..the chalet was big and comfy...the Ski Patrol was plenty. Prices were fair. You can get good deals on the 'liftopia' site. Enjoy :)
I recently went tubing with a group of friends, all for the very reasonable rate of $11. There are about half a dozen slides and best of all you're allowed unlimited runs until closing. The tubing also has its own adjacent chalet where we were able to warm up with hot chocolate afterwards. A really great deal for a weekday night out.
We have been skiing at Snow Valley for over ten years and I just had to tell everyone that Snow Valley is a great place to teach your kids how much fun winter can be. Both of my kids started skiing at Snow Valley at a young age - 24 months. They spent their weekends on the hills with qualified, friendly instructors. Both are excellent skiers today and embrace winter as a result.
I am an avid snowboarder and tend to go to a lot of resorts like Blue Mountain, Mt St Louis, Hockley Valley, Glen Eden. Besides Blue Mountain & Mt St Louis, Snow Valley is at the top of my list. I love everything about Snow Valley. Everyone is so friendly. Staff are just outstanding and will ensure all your questions are answered and you are taken care of. I have been to Snow Valley only 2 times but look forward to many more. I have convinced my family and friends to try Snow Valley and they love it!!If your looking for a nice place to ski or snowboard with awesome trails and great staff then look no further as Snow Valley has it all.
I'm not an avid reviewer, but after my experience I had Ski Snow Valley Barrie, I felt it necessary to come on here and share my experience with everyone. Long story short, I have never been skiing my entire life, let alone snowboarding. We had been to this location before just for the snow tubing, but determined to try more, we found a great package on-line that bundled skiing and a hotel for a great value! When I visited the resort, the service was absolutely tremendous, and I quickly discovered that skiing was not for me. My experience with skiing was absolutely horrible as my rentals were not fitted properly, but a ski instructor by the name of Tracey who was teaching a bunch of children stopped and helped me out. She quickly brought the entire experience back to a positive one.Unfortunately being refitted with skis didn't help the problem, and I was met again on the hill by Tracey (I can't thank her enough for keeping this day enjoyable), I immediately switched to snowboarding, which was not included, but the resort took care of it anyway as they wanted my experience to be a positive one.I opted into a 1 hour private lesson for my partner and I, and after speaking to a manager about the situation (which I felt should not have been necessary), I managed to have her rental fees waived as I didn't find it fair she had to rent equipment to spend the day with me because their rentals don't fit my feet appropriately. (both rentals were supposed to be included for skis anyway) We paid for our 1 hour session with Shawn and he was terrific! Personable, patient and just a very outgoing guy!Had it not been for the staff we encountered that day, Tracey & Shawn, we would never have returned to Snow Valley Barrie, and would not have recommended it to any of our friends. But with the experience that we had dealing with their staff and the customer service, we will be coming back for sure for more tubing! We picked Snow Valley because of the reviews that say it is a great place to learn and found the excellent package that had included accommodations. We will return however because of the service we received from Tracey and Shawn that day.
This visit was no exception, ever time I've visited Ski Snow Valley, I've been greeted by friendly staff and have had nothing but good times. We went on a Wednesday around lunch time to spend my birthday, tubing on the hill. All 8 runs were open and both lifts. It was really fun. We were surrounded by 300+ school kids until around 2:30 and then the hill was ours. It was great. Good for families, good for friends, and good for couples!
