We visit Fulton's every spring. The kids always look forwards to the horse-drawn sleigh ride and roasting marshmallow at the camp fire. It is very popular and usually a long line for their pancake house. Food is served cafeteria style with bottleneck at the cash and food serving area. It is not a big eating area (we usually time it for late lunch to avoid the big morning rush). Food is OK (compared to other area sugarshacks), and not cheap for what you get. It is most appealing to kids with their playground equipment, face-painting, campfire with marshmallow roasting (perhaps only on certain weekends?), and of course the horse-drawn sleigh ride (when there is snow on the ground). Every year that we have visited, there's been snow. They also have a nice shop. Not the shortest drive from the city, but a relaxing one.
We visit Fulton's every spring and love every minute of it. We began our visit with breakfast. Pancakes, sausages (the best ever!) and the maple baked beans are heavenly. We took a walk to help work off our breakfast and my guys loved the ultimate challenge (think amazing race) and the new eagle eye adventure. After our scavenger hunt we headed to the sleigh ride. The horses are always a big hit with our kids. The ride through the sugar bush is so magical this time of year. This particular visit was exceptional as there was a ceremonial first tapping of the trees by an aboriginal visitor. My whole family loved taking part in this! No visit to the sugar bush would be complete without taffy and of course maple sugar candy. Overall, a terrific time and look forward to our next visit over March Break!
We always appreciate feedback and thank you for taking the time to write. Regrettably, Sunday, February 15th was an extremely cold and windy day (-35C with wind chill). Environment Canada had in fact issued an extreme cold warning. We made a sudden decision to cancel our sleigh rides for the safety of the horses and driver. This is very rare. The Taffy Shack is open between 11 am - 3 pm on weekends, however, with the cold wind, may have closed early for the health & safety of our staff. There is a sign on our Taffy Shack directing guests to the Maple Shoppe for Taffy and we sincerely apologize that you did not see this. We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your meal as our restaurant usually receives high compliments. We had training for new staff on our opening weekend and we regret you were given incorrect information regarding the campfires upon your arrival. Again, we felt it necessary to cancel outdoor activities to ensure the safety of our staff, but regret that the staff member you spoke with did not have the most up to date information.
