I was married on the Segwun 6 years ago and we go on a spring cruise every year to celebrate our anniversary. The boat is gorgeous and the views are breathtaking! The staff are always very friendly and the chicken lunch is delicious.
The day I went it was overcast and chilly for in August. We brought jackets. The ship RMS Segwun is beautiful. The staff were nice. The person talking to everyone through the microphone was funny and told some cool stories. I saw someone coming down from where the captain steers and they told me and my friend that we could go up. So we did! The captain was nice and allowed us both to take a turn steering. He also rang the bell. We received a certificate for steering the ship! The scenery would have been nicer if it wasn't so cloudy and overcast, but there was a few picturesque lighthouses that we saw. When I went it was for 2 hours which seemed a little long. I would say a 1 hr ride would be sufficient (unless you choose to go on the dinner cruise or go on a nice day).
$20 for the family pass. Pretty interesting. Closed on Monday. Steps from the residence Inn hotel, play area for kids.
enjoyed a glass of wine on the ship it was an excellent experience The information given on the boat was interesting but a little difficult to hear over the loud speaker. The staff was friendly and the trip enjoyable
Staff were very friendly and helpful both times we were aboard (fall and summer). We enjoyed a drink at the bar, but it was also very family friendly. The scenery, on the other hand, became somewhat boring after a while. The water was beautiful, but viewing cottage after cottage after cottage lost its appeal after a while. We did appreciate the commentary and the history. Admission to the boat heritage centre was free with the cruise, and it is well worth a visit.
We boarded the Segwun Steamship last mid-October with the intention of seeing the leaves and the beauty of the lake. With the purchase for your ticket, you also get a free admission to Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre where you can learn the history of steam boats, recommended!!The boat left right on time and and the whole crew was really polite and knowledgeable. That day, even though it was cold, the sky was clear, sunny and the leave were very colourful. You could see pockets of green, red, yellow and orange on every tree. The whole trip takes around two hours and there is someone explaining all the important points on the lake. Most of the cottages are really nice. During the last half an hour, the crew serves high tea for those who opted for it. I will recommended to everyone. It consists of three trays of sweets and little sandwiches with a great selection of teas. It will make your experience even better.I think this is mandatory attraction for anyone visiting Gravenhust and want to enjoy the beauty of Muskoka.
We loved everything about it on a glorious day - the gentle chug of the steamship, the captain's informative commentary, the beautiful fall colours along the shorelines, the beer and cokes and the friendly people all round!
This is a great cruise in the summer when you can marvel at the beauty of the area, but the autumn colours seen from Lake Muskoka are simply amazing!
Must take the cruise in the fall to experience the hidden beauty of muskoka.space on the top floor is not much and seating is next to nothing.Middle floor has some seating with nice view and access to the snack bar.Stroller friendly though elevator takes for ever if you disembarking.
As part of our bus tour we took the cruise on the RMS Seqwun. It was raining at first, but the sun came out later. It was a great cruise and the scenery was excellent, especially with the fall colours.
The Segwun steamship was very clean and comfortable. The ride was very smooth. You can sit outside or inside. It has a gift shop. You could purchase snacks and it had a bar where you could buy drinks. My friend and I took the 2 hour cruise and really enjoyed the trip. It was an added bonus that the sun was shining. We cruised on Lake Muskoka and saw many beautiful homes and cottages. There are other trips you can take on the steamship that travel different routes and are of longer and shorter duration. We booked our tickers on line which was a good thing. When we got to the dock the 23 hour trip was sold out.
We spent a very enjoyable two hours on the steamship Wenona II. The weather was incredible, very warm for a late September Sunday afternoon. Got to see Taboo from a different angle, it's much larger than we thought. Saw some beautiful cottages. Heard some great stories about the history of Lake Muskoka. All in all, a fabulous couple of hours out on the water!
We spent a pleasant hour touring through the bay and just beyond the narrows. Saw some gorgeous "cottages" but all agreed that we were happy that our two and half hour lunch cruise had been cancelled (ship malfunction). An hour was enough. It was freezing on board and we soon tired of looking at cottages regardless that they were all mansions.
We are members of the Steamship & Historical Society, but it was not until a couple of weeks ago that we had the pleasure of taking an evening cruise/dinner aboard the Segwun. This ship is still plying the Muskoka lakes and is well worth the trip to Gravenhurst. Although the evening was rainy with thunderstorms, we still sailed and had a wonderful meal and voyage. The food was hot and well presented and of course, just being on the Segwun was a treat. And, to top it off, we saw a double rainbow and were entertained by 2 young musicians on keyboard and violin. A delightful evening and we would recommend it to all who are in the area.
I took my sister out for her birthday. We went on the steamship the Wenona II. We had lunch as we toured the lakes and islands. It was excellent so relaxing touring the lake while the captain came over the speaker describing the points of interest. Lunch was delicious and the service was truly awesome. Our server was so nice and very professional. It was obvious everyone was enjoying themselves. So relaxing. Before the tour we stopped at the Gravenhurst farmers market and after the tour we stopped in Orillia on the way home and went to the Market for a salad and coffee to wind up our day. We also stopped and had our picture taken with the captain of the Wenona II and let him know what a great time we had on our tour. Ending a perfect day.
