The Halloween event was awesome. My 10 year old grandson and his friends had a great time. Not wheelchair friendly.
We had a blast here. Lots to do for all the ages. My youngest was content playing on the park structures, and my eldest was happy to go through the Railroad Museum. Will come back for sure!
This train has been in Capreol for many years. Great tour and the staff were very helpful and knew their stuff.
This was my second year visiting the Capreol Railroad Museum for its annual Terror Train attraction. It takes place on weekends in October. What an impressive display! This year's theme: scary clowns... the ones that visit you in your nightmares. There was a slight waiting line to pay for our tickets, but we were quickly admitted into the museum. To make sure you have the full experience, the organizers only admit groups of four to six people in the attraction at a time. After we payed for our tickets, we joined the outdoor line up where we were entertained by actors in amazing scary clown costumes. They took the time to mingle with us and to prepare us for the fright. The railroad museum is home to an impressive steam train. At Halloween, you can enter parts of the train and try to make your way out.... that is if you didn't get caught by something gruesome and frightening. This year, the scary clown display reminescent of a turn of the century dark carnival freak show, was well worth the 10 dollar entry fee. The actors were fabulous...they improvised, catching bits of conversations here and there and playing on this. All of a sudden, you would hear the creepy whisper of a clown calling your name. They would also play on your fears. So, if you're up for a frightening evening, visit the Terror Train in Capreol. Don't forget to dress warm since the attraction is outdoors. Can't wait to go back next year!Anik Lemieux
We have been coming for years. Love love love the Halloween Terror train. Very professional. We always have a blast. Worth the drive from Hamilton!! We hope the Museum continues with this well loved tradition! The Museum trains are a perfect setting for a scary show! If you get a chance to visit the museum, there are many neat pieces and displays about Northern Ontario past and heritage. Educational and hands on!! Bravo!
The staff are wonderful and one gentleman in particular acted as our guide telling us about the history of the railroad. A great place to visit for all the family.. The haunted train in particular at Halloween is fun for the kids.
This place is great! My 4 year old nephew absolutely loves it. There is a school car, caboose, engine, and plough, all of which you can go in. There is a model train that roams the property that he can sit and watch for hours. There's also a train theme playground. In addition there are all the cool artifacts in the house, a tea room which serves beverages and a snack, and Thomas the Train merchandise. My only complaint is that sometimes kids want to stay too long. It really is perfect for any little train enthusiast. My suggestion is bring your kids, grab a coffee from the tea room and get ready to stay a while. If you want a full meal there is a great, inexpensive dinner around the corner called M and R grill. Lots of kid friendly stuff and great salads if you're looking for something healthy.
They have the best haunted attraction around, they decorate the trains and it's really scary especially at night. Great place to bring the older kids. Good job
It is along way to drive to view what there is to see. Not many places to eat lunch. We were both very disapointed and would not go there again.
Nice place to browse, find read information..many hands on items to view..2 floors of things plus outdoor items..staff is friendly knowledgeable..
This is a great place to take the family to look at the history of the railroad in the north. It is a hands on experience for the kids. A miniature train roams through the property No disappointment for the short drive.
This was the best Haunted adventure around, good job. Everyone had a wonderful time but we did have one person "chicken out".
Absolutely marvelous place to visit, the staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the Center and its content and history.
First time there, was very impressed with everything we saw. Very interesting, educational and a lot of fun.
In recent years they've done a lot of work on this little museum. The gardens are lovely, the waterfall and gardens remembering organ donations are wonderful. The model train that runs round the gardens is a real hit. We enjoyed the Superintendent's box car home - could live there ourselves. And the little school in the train is so well appointed. It's a perfect place to take young kids, or even older ones with a serious interest in our past. The mining and lumber history is nicely set up. A great complement to a trip to Dynamic Earth.Lovely little tea room with coffee, tea and a desert. Mmmm! You should go.
