We had a wine tour for my mother-in-laws birthday. Kalro Estates was our last and best stop, all thanks to Lindsay. She knew all her wines and answered every question in great detail! She had a fantastic personalitiy and made us all feel very welcome. We all enjoyed our tour of the winery and loved the wines. We hope to be back soon! !
One of the best wineries I've been to! The fortified wines are to die for!! And Liza took incredible care of us. This place is a MUST visit! Not only are the wines incredible, but the ambiance, service and setting are worth driving to PEC!
First off, you have to drive to the side of the barn, walk across grass and go in the back door, all of which was less then impressive...but then... get ready for the best wine tasting experience by far in PEC !!!First off you get to sit down... and at a long beautiful hand crafted wooden bar and we were lucky to have Craig who did a great job explaining the history of the winery and helped us select which wines to taste. And the ONLY winery (and we visited many) to offer food pairings so that one may fully appreciate the wine!!Also, one of the very few doing great work with reds, their Merlot is very good and their Quintas blend was stellar. If you only visit one winery in PEC, this is the knee, the tasting experience is far above the average!!And just walking distance from the Newsroom Suites, very handy, also a great place to stay!
Popped in here on the recommendation of friends and it was a wonderful experience. During the wine tastings you'll get a rather unique food pairing (try the Frontenac Gris Rose with Wasabi peas). The old barn that serves as the tasting house is incredibly nice. Wines are very good, a tad on the higher end of the price scale $24-$35, but you may well find the, worth the price. Nothing made here you'll find at the LCBO. Make sure you go for a walk in the vineyard and cross the arch bridge designed and built by the owner. A great experience with lovely wines, nice settings and everything a good winery should be. We'll be back.
Definitely recommend a stop at this winery if you are doing the PEC wine trail. The wines are excellent and staff very helpful.
We enjoyed a wine tasting session with a friendly knowledgable server. Karlos Winery has some unique grape varietals and excellent port. We are going home with the white port. Also, well worth the short wonder to see the dry stone bridge. Beautiful old barn and a warm welcome from Shari. Well worth the stop on the county wine tour.
Thank You Craig for the wonderful presentation experience - The Best in 'The County' by far!The winemaking is creatively innovative! We will be sure to stop by during our second visit to PEC!
Easily the best winery we visited in Picton Canada area by FAR. Very knowledgable people who pair food with the wine tastings to help make the experience even better
Best tastings in town- very knowledgeable people and lovely grounds. We love their wine- make sure to have the frontenac gris and the ports!
This was our second experience with wine tasting on our trip to Prince Edward County. The old barn had been turn into a lovely shop & tasting bars. We chose the outside bar. Our server was very knowledgeable & pleasant to talk to. Each wine we tasted was accompanied by a small portion of food, i.e. olives, nuts, spiced wasabi peas, etc. We had a sip of wine, a bite of food & another sip. The food enhanced the flavour of each wine. It was a very interesting tasting. Good choice of wines.
We went to Karlo today for a wine tasting. You should give Daniel a big pat on the back! We will be ordering our wine for the 170 people from Karlo Estates! We were treated so well by him, and the wine was great too! A wonderful time for the bridesmaids and Mothers! Thanks Daniel you do a great job
We visited the County for the day and Karlo was stop 4. The tasting area was cosy and inviting. Our host Craig was excellent. The service was top notch. The pairings and the wines were perfect. The grounds were nicely kept. Their rose and dessert wine were delicious. Great overall experience.
I am very pleased to report that Karlo Estates Winery continues to "take the cake" for a sommelier-food pairing that is second to none in "The County" (Prince Edward County). We have taken five groups of friends over five separate occasions there. Whether Craig or Lindsay does the hosting - its all good! They will take your palate through wine tasting (first without food, then they will have you sip after tasting the appropriate food - and you will be rewarded with a splendid appreciation of each wine - from the lightest white to the most robust red ... and finishing with phenomenal white and red port wines. Not an experience to be missed. - Lise Allinp.s. no tasting fee if you purchase wine.
A favorite in our group of wine enthusiasts! Great selection of wines. This winery does wine pairings and they do it well. The property is beautiful and would make for beautiful pictures for a family or a wedding party. Staff was wonderful. A truly enjoyable experience.
We loved everything about Karlo Estates Winery. It is charming in an 1845 barn. They've maintained much for the character and added an extension using reclaimed barn board. The tasting was love at first sip. We started with the Reisling which turned out to be my favourite. We really enjoyed the food pairings, which helped us better appreciate the wines. We loved the walk through the vineyard to the stone bridge. Craig was warm, knowledgeable and passionate about Karlo Estates Winery. It is clear that he loves the wines they produce and that he truly respects and admires his employers. We were sad that we didn't have the opportunity to meet Sherry and Richard in person. We walked out with a small cellar's worth of yummy wines. The port-like wines were the biggest surprise ... very delicious, especially the unusual white variety. We will certainly be back the next time we visit the County.
