great for kids, loved the variety.. Kids love plane simulators and the fire towers. The bug collection exhibit was Aldo a hit with the little one.
This is one of the best places to visit when in Sault Ste. Marie. It is extremely well curated and quite a bit of fun.
This is such an interesting place to just look around. In December we enjoyed the venue for our annual Kid's party. The staff is easy to work with and the venue is very special. Make sure to take some time at this special place.
A good museum full of history! Kids would love it. Good display for information, many of hands on displays
Very interesting collection in this museum. Easy to find, just follow the markers. Some unique airplanes are on view in this building. Also very nice to see is the seaplane base located just next to it.
A great place for the whole family to enjoy the short and very entertaining movies along with displays and interactive skill tests.Have taken many visitors and family members to this Centre in the last 10 years!
The displays which are there and the volunteer staff, make the entire venue fantastic. My Grandchildren enjoy the whole place, from the 4d show to the displays in the hanger are spectacular especially when they can actually go into the planes, pilot them and use the tower radio to communicate fires to the base station on the floor.
My husband and I visited the museum just because we thought it might be neat. It turned out to be very enjoyable and the two movies shown were also good. We liked the information given and all of the planes set up. It was really cool that you could actually go inside some of them. We are not necessarily plane enthusiasts but are definitely glad we went.
A lot of history here. Very informative and a nice change. The staff are all very knowledgable on the aircraft on display
Pilots or people fascinated with planes and flying need to add The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre to their time or pass-through at Sault Ste. Marie. And, if you are a pilot, the Center is a registered water-based airport for floatplanes -- there's a helicopter pad as well. It's a "get up close" kind of place to experience all kinds of bush planes and learn about wilderness flying, fire fighting, and the highly skilled and adventuresome pilots who fly in and out of remote corners of Canada. The museum has a homey, not too big and not too small feel to it. I loved getting close to a variety of real planes, not models or mock-ups. Cool stuff! I spent more time here than I anticipated, even though some of the multimedia stuff was not functioning at the time. The gift shop is worth a stop, too.
I have a very limited interest in planes and was surprised how much I enjoyed the museum. Not only can you get up close to the planes, the history is actually interesting. Lots of videos to see. If in the Sault you need to take the time to visit here
This is one of the most interesting museums you will ever visit. It is extremely well organized and casual. Don't forget to see the wildfire video. That alone is worth the modest admission fee.
The hands on and visual displays are wonderful. I was very surprised at how close we could get the the planes. Very seldom do we see these planes up close and so many of them. Many of the planes have been restored perfectly. Great education on Fire fighting. There is a Ranger tower that the children really love. We took our time and really enjoyed our visit. We will be back.
I Have lived in the Sault for most of my life and love to go to the Bush Plane Museum. I try to go every 2-3 years and I am always amazed. Them seem to keep adding new things. Well worth the visit.
This museum has a variety of bush planes and related artifacts on display and my 17 year old son really appreciated that you could walk right into many of planes to take a look. We learned a great deal about fighting forest fires and the value of bush planes for settling and maintaining communities in the north, emergency response and tourism. The staff were extremely helpful and happy to chat about aviation. They were incredibly knowledgeable about each of the aircraft, their history and service. Don't miss it!
